Or in fact any heavy weight cruiser; how do they handle in central London traffic jams and narrow roads etc

I can appreciate it nowhere near as nimble and larger than other bikes - is this an issues filtering around traffic and just general ability to get a move on in a congested road (or do you just act like a car and lane hog)

Im in love with the diavel and potentially could pick one up soon bounce

I don't know how they handle Londons streets, all I know is the look great on them.

I think no problem. I pilot a Pan European around London and while it is not the ideal commuter tool nor is driving in London the reason why I got it, it ain't slow and can filter fine. At least much smaller scooters with L-plates are not any faster through traffic than me, unless they choose to ride like knobbers.

I'd chain it up well though and only use a carpark, not street.

Pan's don't tend to be much of a hold up in heavy london traffic its the GS and RT beemers which really don't fit through normal bike sized gaps (even without panniers) and end up with queues of two wheeled stuff behind them.
I will say that blackbirds even with 55litre top boxes like mine can fit through much narrower gaps than some people would expect.. the mirrors (which fold back on springs like car ones) are the widest point of the bike.

OP I think a Diavel will be fine.

A diavel will be awesome

remember to go somewhere and practice your slow speed skills too...full lock U-turns with the pegs scraping are cool but possibly even cooler on a diavel with a rider having a "no fks given" look on his face

thanks for the advice, im set on getting one
since I just passed my mod 2 yesterday I will indeed need some skill practice smile

on another topic, few people telling me not to buy this as a first bike - I dont see how its more dangerous than a 600 r6 for example (infact safer as I plan to cruise around) and had my few attempts at dropping bikes so not to worried about that either

It's all in the wrist, throttle control I mean.

But then a Diavel is still 160bhp, with enough torque to spin the world backwards - just go steady and maybe choose the lower power riding mode if it has one for the first few months/weeks/days... or hours. Maybe not ideal as a first bike, but then it's no worse than starting off with a Ducati 1199 Panigale... biggrin

I've seen one in Whitechapel a few times. Didn't seem to be struggling particularly (I was on foot though).

Diavel should be just fine for the city.

Just make sure you fit a Termignoni exhaust... let the sound out.

Thanks for advice - exhaust shopping to come soon smile

I found the bike and planned to pick it up tomorrow from a private sale, I just ran a quick background check and it returned with adverse data. Finance type 9 from black horse. Should I be worried about this? not sure what to do next, can I call up black horse to find out the situation before buying ?

The seller might be paying off the outstanding finance with the proceeds from the sale.

so I guess I ask the seller to put in writing that he takes full responsibility for the outstanding finance? would you be comfortable with that alone ?

Sorry. If the bike has finance outstanding then either he pays it off, or you do and give him the excess.

Getting a bit of paper from him won't help you.

Make SURE that either he has cleared it, or you do.

I've done this before now. Go to his house, get him to call Lloyds, you speak to them, find out how much is outstanding, pay it with your debit card, get them to confirm it's clear, then give him the extra.

understood and many thanks for that

sopke to the seller who claims he will settle the finance straightaway with the funding from me, he claims to have the figure and paperwork ready

getting little nervous now
