I may be going to look at a condition 2 Velocette MAC 350 which needs recommissioning after being stored for 10 years. Can anyone offer any advice (there's not a lot I can find on the internet) e.g. a rough indication of price, things to look for and check, what's hard or impossible to find, who are the specialists and so on ? I'm familiar with new bikes and old cars, but don't know much about old bikes (yet) ...

Thanks most kindly in advance :-)

I own a velo le and had the same problem. You have to join the velocette owners club and that will solve all your problems. These guys are a mine of information and they have all the special tools you need for these one off jobs that you can hire. They will post them out to you,i was totally in the dark until someone told me about them.

Wait for srob to reply, him & his family nearly own a Velo museum. I'm pretty sure he's got a MAC350 Velo tbh, I think it's the one that broke when myself & Mrs Hooli got to take them for a ride.

Hello mate, as Hooli says we have a couple of MACs. In fact I'll keep this brief as I'm just back from a week in Ireland on the one he mentioned (it broke down with Hooli's Mrs on as the magneto died, 100% reliable this week!).

What year are you looking at? They made them for donkey's years. Have a snout on Grove classics website, they have almost everything as spares so will give you an idea of parts availability and prices.

I will say I'm in love with MACs after this week so may be a bit biased smile
