The subject of a chap getting pulled abroad because of his vanity HIDs dazzling a cop and noisy exhaust threads combined for me last night and this morning on the A3 from/into London.

Riding home out of town last night in the rain some dumbfrick came up behind with a BMW enduro thing with what looked like a football floodlights panel on the front. Utterly distracting to me in the wingmirrors and god knows what incoming traffic thought. Overtook a bunch of bikes plotting their way past stationary traffic, hooting, two up before turning left a few hundred yards up the road.

This morning a CBR 600 R reg I think had what amounted to a 10" pair of open stubby pipes instead of a silencer and the racket was absolutely insane. He turned off just before Clapham junction.

But WTF do these morons think they're doing for the image of motorcycling? Isn't there already enough attitude and prejudice from folks that they have to actively encourage more?

If either of you jerks are on here know this: you are causing our passion damage with your selfish stupidity...

Not bad for a first rant, but could try harder. You need more swearing next time.

Sorry but a pretty poor rant. Needs more swearing and name calling. 4/10

yes, yes, very droll smile

However, this tit on the CBR honestly you'd hear the racket for miles around and I'm assuming he rides the same route regularly. I guess it's illegal to be making so much noise so how can he get away with it?

If I decided to remove my silencer and ride about every day to and from work, what would happen to me (other than my neighbours coming round one night to set fire to my garage)?

Can't you just report it to the filth if you have his reg?

I thought they had a database which flagged up registrations?

If it's an illegal exhaust and headlamps which blinded you that is more than a good enough reason for them to tug him if you ask me.

People are like dogs in some respects... they'll repeat behaviour to get attention even if that attention is negative. So if you keep shouting '' at them they'll carry on as any attention is better than none. It's also why people post interminably tedious videos of themselves on youtube, have monday roll calls on forums and periodically start 'woe is me, talk me out of giving up biking' threads. You'll not change them and at least you can see/hear the fktards coming wink

I don't mind loud exhausts but riders with their lights on main beam really piss me off. I have no idea why but the bright lights just hit my red mist switch square on.

Gets my goat as they do it to be seen but it actually makes it harder to judge their distance from you. Not to mention it makes you want to actually turn your mirror away to get rid of the annoying dazzling in the mirror (when in the car at night).

Huh, I'm in Shepperton and because it's nice and straight the tts use Green Lane (30mph) as some sort of ¼ mile test. Honestly, the fkers manage to wring the st out of their straight through rockets and it royally pisses me off.

I like my loud exhaust. I am respectful where I use it, and if anything its made me ride slower. I like hearing other bikes loud exhausts when they come past my house. Police sirens however really piss me off when they come past 50+ times a day. If I ever get pulled over by a police officer for having a loud exhaust, I'll give them a right ear full*

(*Actually just sit there in silence looking at the floor feeling guilty.)

I assume then you spend a lot of time riding in the Highlands of Scotland as that's about the only place in the UK where the population density is low enough to allow "respectful use" of a loud exhaust.

I live in the country, just under a mile (as the crow flies) from the A134. It is quite common for summer Saturday and Sundays to be disturbed by the noise of motorcycles with loud exhausts "giving it some" along the A134.

Really pisses me off too and it doesn't have to be at night or in the car either. There are a number of bikers who commute the same route that I do and seem to have high beam on all the time. It is not uncommon for me to catch them up wile filtering, pass them, then have them follow me with their lights still on full beam. I either have to move my mirrors which impacts on my rear vision or ride while being dazzled. Neither is a good or safe option.
