I've got a Givi wing rack and top box on the VFR which I've generally been happy with. Sadly the mounting kit for the VFR seems to be problematic as it's broken the sub-frame and now sheared a bolt on one of the mounting points.

I'm only carrying spare waterproofs/gloves and an ultrabook in a very light rucksack. 5kg max.

Needless to say I'm a bit pissed off with Givi and their breakable gear (though the box is good -read waterproof- even if it's a pig to carry by hand).

So the question is, has anyone got experience of a better topbox/rack option than Givi. As of now I'll be going back to using a rucksack which wasn't the plan for an hour's commute.

Have you spoken to GIVI UK about your issues? I was up at their warehouse on Friday and they really are a helpful bunch.

Not a great deal of help, but I've had a GIVI rack/topbox on my BMW for about 4 years and it has been faultless carrying all manner of stuff.

I spoke to the guys that I bought it from and they've asked for pictures to send on to Givi. I just need a couple of bits to fix it but second time round I'm quite wary of relying on it again.

That all seems a bit odd - without wanting to sound patronising or anything, have you got it all bolted together correctly in terms of stressing it (movement in subframe for example), or movement in the plate or mountings itself causing it to flex when you go over bumps, the racks are only castings after all.

I only ask as I have overloaded Givi stuff something bad in the past and had no problems.

I followed the instructions and it all fitted. I don't know. The rest of it is all still fine.

Same here, very odd. I'd drop them a line as their stuff is really good in my experience.

Worth mentioning that Givi sorted this out for me via Bykebitz. A free new fitting kit and it's all fitted and working as it should. Hopefully this is now going to work properly which seems to be everyone elses experience.
