Doesn't strike me as a potential Starbucks location. They are usually in town centres with lots of passing foot traffic.
They've had lots of the old trunk route Little Chef sites. There are two on the A3 for example.

There is a drive thru' on the M3

I went to Loomies for the first time only a few weeks back, much preferred it to the more local to me H-Cafe, Berinsfield

Gutted.

I've always preferred it to H Cafe too. Much better setting in terms of nearby roads

I was up there last night with the wife and a couple of friends. Sad to see it go, its a great place. Yeh OK its not haute cuisine, but ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE!

Good honest food and a proper biker feel to it.

I have to say, though..... Whinge alert... (sorry).....

There were some right idiots around last night. We rode down from B'stoke via Alton, and were hassled by a bunch of racerboy plonkers with tiny twinkly LEDs and even tinier numberplates all the way to Alton. Farrr too much of my attention was behind me because there were other riders whipping past me all the time in stupid/dangerous places. I'd have really appreciated a Police rider hooking up - them boys don't hang around in NSL but they do it competently and safely.

On the A31 some muppet on a blue Rizla liveried bike with matching leathers (ahhhh, how cute) came past me doing about a ton on his rear wheel. On an open road with other traffic about...! Next time I see that I'll make more effort to get the plate and report it to the Police. I'm not trying to spoil the fun, but public roads are no place for that. Stop it.

Then at Loomies (and perhaps this is all in my head smile) there was an unusually confrontational atmosphere. Lots of people barging around both on foot and on their bike. Shame.

Rant over.

I still like Loomies though. Monday nights at the H after they close then! I like the H too, and the fellas at Infinity are a good bunch too.

Question: Am I---->

a) Old before my time (early 30s) and a miserable bd that doesnt like anyone having a ton of wheelie good fun on the open road

or b) thinking the same thing as most sane motorcyclists, i.e. I'd like to get there alive having enjoyed the ride rather than having to dodge / do battle with dangerous idiots?

It was a funny old night...:/

Ed, you're probably B like most bikers. Though you could be C, which is someone who's watched too many episodes of Emergency Bikers smile

Another quick visit today. Bike needed a run out, and so did I.
Definitely improved since the change of management. I no longer feel like I need degreasing when I leave, and everything about the place seems a bit....well....tidier, better organised and generally more welcoming. Menu has improved too, clearly higher quality stuff, although slightly weirdly....burgers now seem to come wrapped for takeaway by default. Presumably cuts down on washing up and, therefore, costs.
Which brings me on to the elephant in the room.....
Mug of coffee and a good but pretty standard double cheese burger (on its own, no chips etc.)...a few pence short of SEVEN quid. Seven Pounds Sterling.
I really want to like the new Loomies and I know the recent improvements haven't happened for free, but if that means prices literally doubling (as opposed to a slight and thus bearable increase) I can see clouds on the horizon..... frown

Glad to hear it's improved or glad to hear they may be pricing themselves in to extinction?

This in that London Village place, where you're all millionaires and have houses that cost more than the national debt right? What's the problem then?

We have a Devils Bridge, bacon, sausage and egg barms with a cup of coffee served from a caravan costing around £5 which is somewhere near three years wages for the average Northerner.

It's fifty miles outside London "village" and there are loads of less expensive places in between.

I went not long after it was reopened and to be blunt, the burger was ste. So they had better of got there st together or I'll not bother giving them a second chance.

Tbh if I want a nice burger, I'll go to Newlands corner, easily best burger in Surrey.

It's northern for bun or bap, i.e. a round lump of bread cut in half and the various fried bits sandwiched in the middle.
