The opportunities are there alright, but usually for those who demonstrate they're worthy of them and who also recognise they won't come to fruition overnight.
These scrotes are just after immediate attention and superficial popularity, more YouTube hits than the next scrote and an easy path to what so many of them think is a viable career......that of "being well-known on social media" which has worked but only for a very chosen few.
They may have talent, but without genuine direction it is worthless.
Hitler was quite a talented artist by the way although he was often criticised for not including more people in his paintings.

Now, where's me pipe and slippers?
Nice Godwin.

I agree btw.

What I am saying is don't blame the individuals, blame the government for not giving them the opportunities. All I see in that vid is pure talent that would do well on a track or better focused to teach noob riders bike control. Those 'scrotes' are just looking for an opportunity to better themselves and the opportunities that were previously obtainable are not so easy to get these days.
Ball cocks.
Indeed, the Government never gave me any 'opportunities' I had to get off my arse and do it for myself, maybe it's harder today but that's no excuse for stealing a bike.

I'm OK with them dicking about on their own bikes, kids will be kids and all that and I can't say I didn't misbehave a little, but I never stole anyone else's stuff... furious

It's a cliche but I blame the parents personally. You can have all the opportunities in the world but if you lack the basic grasp of things like hard work and respect you'll never be able to realise them.

I'll never forget my cousin scraping by in his GCSEs. His parents were divorced and his mother seemed curiously ambivalent to his failure plans. His Dad however, finds out and is outraged at his apparent lack of prospects. He takes his son and his CV to every technical college and apprenticeship giving institution until he has something. He wouldn't let his son be a waster.

If more parents took a bloody interest in their children this wouldn't happen. Better yet their kids would also have broken the cycle of being a feckless nobody.

Yet if an insured, taxed, licensed and above all legal rider posts a video showing high speeds the Police come after him whilst this dickwad breaks every rule in the book and puts all the info on youtube for the world to admire, innit... banghead

People may hate, but 2 wheelers have almost always been hated. Now we as 'proper' riders are taking our turn to have a pop at the youths. Well I don't like some of the street talk, not keen on most of the machines, but a lot of this bunch are very skilled and atleast they aren't stuck in cars with loud stereos and play station as their only outlet. The comments about 'get a real bike' on you tube were laughable. Real bike, like a Harley? As if that is going to wheelie or stoppie. I don't hate them. I don't love them, I kind of admire them though, making the most of a ratty scooter. Haters on PH, you just haven't seen the future yet. No scooter riders equals no biking future for the UK.

BN, you are right.

Alec Salmond says that scooters will be outlawed in an independent Scotland.

OK, I just made that up, but while some of you may admire their skills, are not these the morons who risk having the Ace Café shut down?

As I mentioned elsewhere, I am not sure the scooter riders directly correlates to the biker population in any meaningful sense. The times have largely gone by of young lads needing scooters and motorbikes as cheap transport (being Northern, I can very much relate to the working man riding his motorbike to work in his overalls). Finance and direct debit insurance has put an eco-box well within the grasp of most young lads of any sort of means. Scooters and motorbikes do still make a great transport solution but they're not the necessity they once were*.

Thinking back to the lads I remember getting scooters when they turned 16, none of them really had anywhere in particular to go on them. Out of scores of them who used to ride scooters, I would imagine most let their CBT'S lapse long ago and I can't think of any who went on to hold a full bike licence. Most faded into the background of petty crime, having loads of kids and being on the dole years ago. I suppose they reached that point in life where many no-hopers simply give up; when they realise they can get paid just to sit around at home and do nothing in particular with their time. Remembering those lads at 16 on their scooters, they never really went anywhere either. They'd tear up and down the lane outside of school being as rebellious as you can be at 30mph, but I think they all gave up on scooters when they realised they didn't actually need to go anywhere else.

Most of the people I see getting into biking now are slightly older, and simply find their slot in the licence category and enter there. Lads who work and have a bit of cash for a second mode of transport. None of them are akin to the scrotes in the video who go round stealing bikes. These new lads are the ones who are propping up the used bike sale market!

  • Whilst I mention that biking is no longer seen as a viable route for those who can't afford a car, I sense a new breed of rider emerging: he who had no intention of ever riding a bike but parking issues force it. My company is moving offices shortly. The new place is a nightmarish building in a city centre where parking is extremely limited. The only parking offered by the company is a massive back yard used for storing fleet vehicles which could house a thousand Goldwings. No private cars can be parked there but we're welcome to come on motorcycles and mopeds, and the canny riders who get there first will even get shelter for their bikes. Pitted against the costs of parking permits (in excess of £300 a year) and angry locals damaging cars (happening already despite the first lot of staff having only been in there two weeks), many of my colleagues are hastily buying 125's and getting their CBT's rather than struggle on bringing a car to work. Our shifts mean public transport won't cover weekends and late shifts, so for many the only viable option is to get a little motorbike and get learning!

I'd be surprised if most bikers had started on scooters, and equally if most scooter riders went on to have bikes.

Some nice Gilera Runners in that video...

A lot of these bikes wont be stolen I know people who have spent £3/4k on the things the modified scooter scene is quite big all over the place and some of them are very very fast i.e. 13 second quarter miles from a 183cc shiny red tuned engine.

This is a couple of photos of a lad I know 5 figure build!

Five figure build cost and it's still inferior in every way to a £1,000 Honda CBR.

What a fking waste of time.

It runs a 13 second quarter mile so is pretty quick for a scooter as has a Shiny Red 183 tuned engine

Was built to win shows and it does attention to detail is incredible

Owner also has a BMWS1000RR and an Evo 9 360 just really likes his scooters!
