So you only need to do the second worst job in the world to make them better?

Well today I started painting them. The recommended sanding paper done nothing as the existing paint is soooo thick. So I gave them a quick wash down with some baby wipes and away I went.

I have latterly spared incurred no expense.

I decided to warm the tins up seeing as its zero degrees outside. I put them in a basin of hot water from the kettle to warm them up. I fking shat it as one exploded 5 minutes after being put in.

So I done the seat on my door step, after covering a section of my front door pavement in some blue paint (luckily I quickly washed it and its gone, good paint this stuff) and realising I have a white door and neighbours I thought it best to do it elsewhere. It really wasn't working, the wind kept blowing the newspaper into the paint as well.

So I decided to go walk to my local woods, for a spot of painting.

who needs a dust sheet, just use some leaves.....it will disappear quite quickly anyway, probably.

so first coat done, I brought them inside to dry. I have to say, I'm afraid to spark a match to be honest, its rather pongy in here. I have a feeling the other half is going to go mental when she gets in.

looks fking awesome I know.

I done another coat, quite tiring all this walking to the woods.

My genius knows no bounds.

It actually looks ok dry, I mean not great, and there is some green coming through, making it look kinda funky, but its not bad, for a spray can job in the woods.

So let me get this right, you have been spraying your bike on a windy day in the fking woods?

I can't wait to see the finished product, I'm sure it'll be better than that helmet you had, but then again maybe not.

in the woods, really?!
My garages have stuff in them. I'd end up with paint all over my stuff. Plus it wouldn't dry in there.

It really doesn't look so bad. Honestly so much better than before.

The big problem is that the fairings I got have been painted by someone who was worse than me.

To sand it all down and do it right, clear out my garage, tape it all up could take days.

I just don't want it to be green.

I should add these are just to do the bike till I get a proper new set done.

I have a few more bits and bobs to get for it before I start bothering with the plastics. These will just be spares.

So I started doing some more tonight, there was a bit of a problem though, theres no easy way to say this but it was a bit dark by the time I got in from work. And when I mean dark, I mean 6 o'clock in the winter dark.
But we didn't win the war by stopping when it was dark so I armed myself with a head torch, some fags and a lighter and went to the woods again. My theory being, paint should be applied evenly. SO, not being able to really see it means I can apply it from bottom to top without going over a bit too much.

the seat was a bugger as it has foam, so I cut out a bit of newspaper and stuck it on, kinda. I became incredible frustrated with this. It reminded me of my days at school in art class. I start with such great expectations, id picture something spectacular, and within 30 minutes I felt like flinging it through the window as I have the shakes and im only 27 years old. I have to confess I need to touch this up a bit, some of my fag ash got stuck onto it, but that's easy fixed, it honestly was tiny.

I gave this a wee sand down when I got in, as I wasn't happy with a section. Came out really well. No problems.

This was a tricky section, could only do so much, obviously as its quite large and having to transport it back and forwards. It was all going well till I lifted it in the air and hit a tiny tree branch/twig coming home. but I need to do a second coat anyway. Perfection and all that.

Whatever you do, don't make it look like a shakey handed jock painted it with a bog brush in the woods on a dark, cold night

People WILL point at you
You mock but you haven't seen it in the flesh. It's really quite good. I mean seriously considering it's mainly been done in the woods at night it doesn't look much worse than my helmet

....If you go down to the woods today...
Ive been doing it in the same patch, the next person who stumbles across this will think wtf has been going on here, im getting acid flashbacks, is that grass blue. I might buy a tin of green paint to go over the area when Im done.

There is a area I'd like to send down. The grade 80 is taking forever. What grade should I use.

I'm half tempted to send these away to get professional done. Not because I'm doing such a ste job. No, no, but so when people see it in the flesh they go wow.

oh dear, its all went a bit st.

I decided to do a bit silver to see how it looks, it was too windy to be doing it and I couldn't really get an even coat, then the wind blew it out my hands hitting some neighbours hedge on the way home..

Good match to the silver I have on the tank mind you.

it might look a bit ste just now but the black is very hard to cover up and will need at least two coats.

It will look much better when its had its second coat...................probably

It's all went to fk.

So whilst carrying it back it must have dribbled at one side so I thought I'd wipe it. I did and made it worse.

So I let it dry to sand it and it wasn't dry enough and it all gummed up.

I'll need to do some serious sanding tomorrow
