Autosport said:
Yonny Hernandez set the pace for Pramac Ducati in a crash-strewn first MotoGP practice session at Misano.

Heavy overnight rain, followed by steady morning drizzle, left the 2.6-mile circuit sodden and the tricky conditions caught out eight riders in the first 10 minutes of the session.

Of these, Andrea Iannone and Pol Espargaro were the most spectacular fallers as they crashed in sequence at Turn 1, with the former visibly struggling to put weight on his right foot as he made his way back to the Pramac garage.

Home hero Valentino Rossi also took a trip through the gravel when the front end of his Yamaha folded under braking at Turn 4, but he came away unharmed and resumed running on his second bike.

Hernandez, meanwhile, managed to tiptoe his way around the track and his mid-session time of 1m50.310s remained unbeatable until the end as the weather conditions deteriorated.

Points leader Marc Marquez finished 1.693 seconds off the Colombian's pace in second, ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Stefan Bradl.

Ioda Racing rider Danilo Petrucci claimed fifth and was the last to go down when he had a nasty spill in the final three minutes of the session, but the Italian appeared to be unhurt from the incident.

Aleix Espargaro dusted himself from his early crash to finish sixth ahead of Iannone, who sat out the majority of session with an icepack on his ankle, while Pol Espargaro, Rossi and Dani Pedrosa rounded off the top 10.

Defending race winner Jorge Lorenzo had a muted session and finished 12th.

Meant to be a dry weekend so pretty pointless to set up for present conditions.

I'm going for a Rossi win!

I so wish Bradley (and Cal) had made a better fist of themselves in the top class - of coursed, notwithstanding how well they have done, on occasion...

It just seems current/future 'aliens' will come from Spain and Italy, with perhaps, the odd Aussie or wild-card thrown in.

I'd also love to see Ducati back up there winning races, and the odd Suzuki - and of course, let's hope, a return from Kawasaki too!

How lovely to see all manner of makes and riders competing for the top three places each race...

An expensive day at Misano , 52 crashes , there were only 66 the whole race weekend in 2013.

The whole Redding thing seems to be unraveling now gressini have announced there going to be the official aprilia team.

In his press statements redding seems to be warming to the idea of riding the aprilia next year :

' The main thing for me is to have a competitive bike next year and Aprilia could possibly be competitive next year, the Honda is competitive so we'll have to see and I have to weigh up the situation. I have to go with the feeling in my stomach feeling and do what's best for my career'

' I'm in the same team but with a different manufacturer and that's not something that I really want to do but I have to consider my future and not just my feelings. We'll see tonight and check all the main points [about each offer] and then make a decision'

Beats me why if there's no honda he doesn't sign for pramac ?

Ok he won't be fighting for podiums but if you go by dovi/iannone he will be fighting for 4-6th places so it's a step in the right direction, stay with the aprilia and it's stating from scratch again.

Could be a classic tomorrow - Has the makings of - Iannone won't take no prisoners - Always liked him mixing it up in Moto 2, at last he's got a bike (nearly) which matches his talent.

Rossi - Speechless - 35 and still cutting it - Fair play.

Marquez will be coming!

Well done Jorge - See him stop on track after getting pole and have a long chat with himself - Superb.

Misano is special.

As much as id love to see a rossi win my money would go on marquez.

No doubt lorenzos plan is get in front get his head down and bang in lap after lap of faultless laps, trouble is he's done that before and marquez reels him in.

Rossi enjoys the race but I fear he will waste too much time swopping paint with others rather than working with lorenzo and getting some distance from the pack.

Iannone if he's on soft tyres they'll be ruined by mid race, if he's on mediums he will have to ride more conservative at the start, do i would be the top ducati if I had to bet on a top 5 position.

I'm just hoping for a good race. I enjoyed the quali and was good to see a few different people at the top

I would love to see Rossi win but as others have said I will not rule out Marc Or Jorge for the win.

Dear Vale as one older gent to another, please do not feck up.

Not wanted for someone to win so badly in such a long time.

The crowd will go mental.

Vale would have a fantastic celebration planned except he's forgotten how to do them ....

Go on lad.
