Now MM has to get 5000 points to beat him as the GOAT.

Cracking.

Great race , don't think anyone would begrudge rossi winning that.

Nice to see marquez stop to congratulate him in cool down lap.

Been a tough weekend for redding but i'm sure once his 2015 ride is sorted he'll be back to business as usual.

Wow - 35 years of age! Has now beaten Biaggi, Roberts Junior, Gib, Stoner, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and now battled and beat Marquez. Phenomenal.....Webber just posted a great tweet and picture.

Amazing motivation.

That plum Castrol Craig will be cursing!

Great ride Dovi as well - Although Rossi put the Ducati in 2nd place at Misano as well.

Great career.

Putting aside the rumours the other comments were funny too about "his mum and his girlfriend getting their lips on his helmet too"

Not a classic race only because Vale was right on it and stretched them out as soon as he hit the front fast and consistant.... Great to see. Marc was pushing very hard (he does lean on that front end like no one else - scrubbing off speed at near full lean just before the apex). Rossi has never really been a great qualifier so it looked like he was in with a real chance when he was only 0.064 from pole.

Liking Apriliaer's post... You know that someone, somewhere is actually thinking this.

Final thought.... Rossi wasn't as excited as many around him. He doesn't think this is a swan song, he believes this is a key step or a spring board to kicking on again and winning more races.... Brilliant!

A great ride from Rossi today, really showing all the doubters that he does still have what it takes to win. It was good to see someone really take MM to the limit and in today's race, beyond it, it's just a shame some of VR's gambles earlier in the season didn't allow him to do it it before, as it could possibly have made the season a little more of a contest.

The other thing that surprised me today was the Yamaha's drive out of corners - watching VR out drive the Honda of MM was a bit of a shock.

I know it may have been down to right track, right weather, right day, but really good to see Rossi win.

Scott Redding will ride a factory Honda for Marc VDS Racing in 2015. Team has 3-year deal.

What a legend he is, getting over the sic crash is probably one of the toughest hurdles he's had to clear. There's no doubt that marquez is something extraordinary but the reality is that rossi in his twilight can still push him. Watching him race now is like 80% of what he used to be capable of and he can still do it. It'll take a long time for someone to get up to his level, marquez could but it'll take a long time before I'm convinced.

The guy is extraordinary - a phenomenon in so many ways.

The other guys must stand there on the podium and just think "wtf?" - how can I get a crowd like this? Marketing mans dream.

Can't remember who said it at the end "When Rossi wins, everyone wins". Too true.

Exactly my thoughts watching the podium ceremony. What a great scene - arguably the 3 greatest current riders other than the new upstart, with the Italian anthem playing (for once!) and VR on the top spot. It was a moment to savour for so many reasons.
