'No offers' can be a big off-put to would be purchasers, I think.

I once did the same thing selling an 848 and there was just no interest. About a month after the advert went up, somebody got in touch to try making me a very reasonable offer, and said he'd seen the ad when it first went up, but wasn't interested in buying a bike without the possibility of a little bit of a haggle. Everyone likes to feel like they got a bargain!

and the reason it says 'no offers' is because of the bullst ive had to trawl through whilst selling other vehicles...

"al swop u a blackberry and a fish tank for it innit"

i just didnt want offers without coming to view 1st. so maybe reword it to refelct that eg: im open to reasonable offers in person...

I know what you mean Pete but you have to make people feel like they're getting a good deal and buy it now no offers doesn't. You're better off setting it higher and justifying in the ad why it's worth that but you'll accept reasonable offers and you'll end up close to what you're after.

You say no service history, do you really mean no history, as in no receipts, paper work or anything, or just no stamps in the book.

The former would bother me, the later I couldn't care about so long as there is receipts for the parts fitted.

I would suggest that saying no service history is a big put off. Given you’ve serviced it yourself and assuming you have some receipts then I would suggest you reword it to say regularly serviced with some receipts. It’ll be even better if you have a "service record" that states the dates you did work and what you did on those dates.

Likewise, as has been said, remove the no offers statement and replace it with OVNO. Yes, you’ll have some crap to trawl through but it’s better to have that than to have no response at all.

Finally, this is almost the worst time of year to be selling a bike and a sports bike even more so. The price that is being asked for other bikes advertised can be very different to the money that is actually being paid if they actually sell. Don't put too much faith in advertised price. Doing an auction will get your bike to the real market value at that time and if that's £500 less than your current price then that's all it's worth!

Photos aren't the best, get eye level with it so you can see the bike instead of looking down on it.

It is a £3000 all day. However comes with no service history so am offering for £2800 no offers.

again as others have said people like to get a bargain, put it up for £3000 then take that out.

Also what I find helps if you can put "will deliver within 50 miles". Bikes can be a bugger to pick up, this can take the hassle out and result in a sale with little effort.

Then there is the fact, its a st time to sell. I cant think of many who will be paying top dollar just now.

So it does have service history, just not stamps in a book? Receipts for stuff are far more valuable to me than a stamp in the book. Write as much in your ad. Also take some better pics, from low down and side on. The pics are cack.

You have to also weigh up the depreciation and running costs you will encounter whilst holding on to it waiting for the £2800.

Come December no one will go near it at that price.

then you will be into next season, a fresh MOT to help sales and the price will be down a few hundred from list.

+ the extra its costing to have it insured

True. In that case i'll give you £2500 for it wink

I sold my VFR over winter. Paid £3500 for it the year before with 8k miles. Mint as a minty-mint thing. Lovely bike but 15k miles so coming up to THE valve service (huge money potentially). No interest. Dropped the price to £3k still no interest. Waited ages.

Then in the December someone local offered me £2900. I took it, but could "probably" have got a few hundred more if i'd waited to spring. By that time i wanted the money for another toy so was fairly happy to grab it and move on. I couldn't put more miles on it because i'd then have to get the valve service done!

On eBay I've found if rather than stating 'no offers', if I enable the "make offer" function, and to tell them to call me rather than email it reduces the number of idiots.

As mentioned good adverts, good pictures, etc. help. A mate on here took some decent pictures and within 4 days of updating the advert I'd had about five offers, one of which I accepted. Pictures are more important for a hairdresser car however.

Cheap houses. Cheap insurance. No silly 50 limits. Hardly any speed cameras. What's not to like?!?! wink
