Though I wouldn't choose to wear one myself I am still unsure why people have an issue with them?

If they cause you to pay more attention to the rider is this a bad thing? Obviously we would all be riding\driving with in the law anyway so even if it was a police bike you would continue to ride\drive in the same way you already were.

We all judge
If I were to judge I'd say it's a very close run thing. But, I won't judge! wink

I'm sure the PH shop could come up with an appropriate sticker for this ste...

I have no issue at all with bikers and riders wearing a hi-viz vest or jacket but the word Polite and the battenburg stripes is to mislead folk and looks daft.

I fail to see why anyone who thinks biking is so dangerous that you have to wear this st to be safe would want to continue biking.

It's because it conjures up an image of that irritating wimpy kid at school who couldn't fart without scaring themselves but used to hang around with the 6th form bully, claiming some sort of threat-by-proxy.
I'm guessing that if push came to shove these "polite" bellends would resort to threats of "I'll get my dad on to you"

Just wondering if it is the "POLITE" or the police style/battenburg pattern which people don't like.

If it was police/battenburg but was blank on the back or said something silly like "GRUMPY" would anybody be bothered by it?

That's excellent!

I've got one which is blank. I think I know what might be going on the next one......

Police seem to approve of them.

I spoke to a plod biker at the Ace and he says he's for it if it saves some biker from being collected by another road user.

I have been known to don a hi-viz vest on a murkey winter morning on the way to work. However the Polite ones are just too much... well for me anyway.

Although I prefer those Polite ones over gang affiliated non hi viz vests/waistcoats.

However I seem to agree with Black K1... each to their own.

I wouldn't say that constitutes "approval", simply says that Plod have no objections on the basis it may save a life. Very diplomatic answer.
Out of uniform I suspect many cops think they're st.

I am disappointed that there is no mention of cyclists in this thread.

Too late, saw a horse drawn bus in Truro in the summer with this arrangement on the rear end.

Been discussed numerous times. It normally goes like this;

You will be decidedly agreed with.

Then someone will mention horse riders.

Then the conversation will degrade into berating horse riders for their perceived lack of consideration.

People will discuss how they then show horse riders no consideration and brag about it.

The irony will be lost.

Someone will mention "they don't pay road tax"

Someone else will point out that isn't what road tax is actually for (usually me) and they do actually pay to use the roads.

Someone will join the conversation late and mention the police having not disapproved of these vest.

I die a little inside.
laugh spot on

I always think whats the mentality of the tard who would think its a good idea? Do they wear a helmet in bed in case they fall out and bang their head? Perhaps from the age of 15 wouldnt leave the house without already being fitted with a condom ( just in case and you cant be too careful now can you ). Reminds me of the excitement and joyless free kindly members of the public who go equipt with there own speed gun to invigorate the neigbours.
