First prediction is that Mckeann will probably be within 2 seconds of FP1 times ......

Beyond that, I will just shout at the TV for a Rossi win and hope we get to see some fairing bashing ......

Would love a proper 3 or 4 way (wouldnt we all, fnar) battle that Rossi wins ....

Autosport said:
Andrea Iannone put the revised Ducati on top in the opening MotoGP practice session at Aragon.

A late 1m48.995s from the Pramac rider deposed championship leader Marc Marquez from the top spot in the closing minutes.

Ducati has supplied two of its GP14.2 'evolution' bikes for this weekend's grand prix, with 2015 factory rider Iannone getting one and current works man Andrea Dovizioso the other.

Marquez ended up pushed back to third, as Forward Yamaha rider Aleix Espargaro burst up from 11th to second using the softer tyre after the flag had fallen.

Until Iannone and Espargaro's late improvements, Marquez was in a class of his own up front, holding an eight tenths of a second advantage for a while.

Jorge Lorenzo closed that gap down to a couple of tenths, finishing the session fourth, his Yamaha sandwiched between the Hondas of Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.

Misano winner Valentino Rossi was sixth, ahead of Dovizioso and early pacesetter Pol Espargaro.

The Avintia team has got a single Ducati for Hector Barbera this weekend, ahead of its full switch to the Italian bikes in 2015.

The revitalised Barbera spent much of the session in the top 10, but then had to dump the bike in the gravel trap in a hurry when it burst into flames. He appeared to escape injury, though whether the Ducati will be fit for use in the afternoon session remains to be seen.

Nicky Hayden began his return to MotoGP after his post-surgery lay-off with 19th place for Aspar.

Leon Camier is in the commentary box for FP2, if you are able to get drunk on a Fri afternoon you could play the "for sure" drinking game. I think I counted 4 or 5 already in the very short bit he just had hehe

Andrea Dovizioso made it a clean sweep for Ducati's revised MotoGP bike as he led second Friday practice at Aragon.

Andrea Iannone had put his Pramac-entered Ducati GP14.2 on top in opening practice, and works rider Dovizioso followed that performance up by pipping Marc Marquez at the end of the afternoon session, albeit using the softer tyre.

Marquez had dominated until Dovizioso edged ahead. The world champion held a six tenths of a second advantage over his rivals for the majority of the session thanks to an early 1m48.3s lap, which he shaved 0.018s off at a later attempt.

The Spaniard kept his Honda second, ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa and Iannone.

Yamaha had five bikes in the top 10, but none in the top four.

Forward rider Aleix Espargaro's Open example lead Tech 3 rider Pol Espargaro and works man Jorge Lorenzo in fifth through seventh, with Valentino Rossi back in 10th behind Stefan Bradl and Bradley Smith.

After its new Ducati dramatically caught fire in the morning, Avintia managed to repair the bike in time for Hector Barbera to join the second half of the session and take 17th.

Went a couple of years ago. The circuit is in the middle of nowhere. It has a good atmosphere but nothing like that of Jerez.
We stayed in Zaragoza as we booked about 10 days before and there was nothing locally available. Nearest town is Alceniz which is where I'd stay if I was going again, seems a nice place with a few bars/restaurants in the centre

Marquez destroying them all again, he's seemingly able to pull time from nowhere. Great performance from Crutchlow, Smith chucking it down the road, again...

Autosport said:
MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez beat Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa to pole position for the 800th premier class grand prix at Aragon.

Marquez went to the top of the order after his first flying lap and broke his own circuit record by 0.124 seconds in doing so, before going even quicker next time around with a 1m47.572s.

It looked like the reigning champion would then cruise to pole, but Pedrosa sprung a surprise by going 0.020s quicker than his compatriot before Marquez reclaimed pole with a last-gasp lap of 1m47.187s.

Andrea Iannone jumped up to third at the end to take his second consecutive front row start on Pramac's revised Ducati and starts ahead of Pol Espargaro and the hugely impressive Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi on the second row.

Rossi salvaged his qualifying by setting the fastest time to top Q1 to progress to the pole position shootout and found further gains to finish 0.020s ahead of Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.

Stefan Bradl claimed eighth ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, whose chances of a decent starting position went out the window when he crashed in the final moments of the session.

Forward rider Aleix Espargaro rounds off the top 10, with Bradley Smith starting 11th after dumping his Tech 3 Yamaha at Turn 2, while Hector Barbera produced his best qualifying performance of the year to take 12th.

Nicky Hayden marked his MotoGP return after a lengthy lay-off due to wrist surgery by claiming 18th.

The former world champion has reported that his wrist is stiff this weekend, but is experiencing no pain with it.

Depressed how few replies these MotoGP threads are getting, I always looked forward to the banter and backroom news that I've missed. (Sob!)

Rossi did well to get into Q2 and then up to 6th was brilliant. Think it was a bit 'do or do' though as he didn't look comfortable on the bike this weekend. Yes, I am a Rossi fanboy and have been for.... bloody hell, that long!?

Marquez seems to be able to pull time at will. I suspect he did enough (he thought) and then when Pedrosa went quicker, he just found 3-4 tenths. The kid is astonishing - I love watching him ride. Wish I could ride a tenth as well... and stay on!

Not feeling the love for the Ducatis, feels to me like 'cheating' running in a different catagory to the other factory teams, but thems the rules and theirs to play by. Still got understeer they say.

Hope it's a great race tomorrow, Rossi for the win!!!! smile

Agreed... Until Ducati have the same rules as everyone else I'm not going to consider them as doing well... Or dovi being a genius even...

Was nervous for Rossi earlier, hopefully the find a set up for the race. I'm thinking 4th or 5th with a battle with pol.

Marquez, ped and lor on the podium
