After the last couple of days commute, roll on spring!

A filthy helmet after every 40 minute commute, and just oblivious drivers in general. 2 on their phones in space of 100 yards last night, completely oblivious to the traffic queue in front of them that had moved a minute ago, and then tonight some daft bint pulls out ever so slowly on me on a roundabout, then gives it the "must stare ahead, must not look at the angry biker" look.

Best though was the young bird who I think shat herself when she veered into my lane on a 30mph dual carriageway kink (goes round a pedestrian crossing island), she straight lined it putting half her car into my lane as I was alongside, a loud rev (to let her know I was there) and she jumped about 6 foot out of her knickers in shock laughrolleyes I mean I was only behind her at the previous set of traffic lights and for about 3 minutes in total so it obviously wasn't her fault she had no idea I was there... shout

The weather has been mild and as such I took the KTM 690 into work. It’s been a horrible trip to be honest.

Not sure what it is? Drivers are definitely not paying attention and the ones that are trying to close gaps and ride up my chuff. Not sure if it’s because the KTM has stock cans and is quiet as sin and therefore these freaks can’t hear me. It seems the Akra on the blade keeps them in check and the big bike keeps everyone from trying stupid crap.

Also I think some people assume the 690 is a 125 and are trying to dominate me. Also I have moved to a different part of London (which I don’t like) so am getting used to the roads.

Sheesh.. not gelling with my bike… not able to find a secluded road to practice 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies like I am told this bikes should do off the bloody throttle.

I may just give up until spring. frown

Back on the bike today, very conscious of the ice on the road immediately off my drive. I took a slightly different route to avoid lots of icy leaves and shady spots. Only had one person directly try to kill me, choosing to pull out of a single carriageway stationary queue (to U-turn or something) at the very moment I was filtering past him (had enough space on the opposite carriageway to swerve and blow the horn to try and stop them pulling out any further into me). Then had one angry juggernaut driver blow his horn at me as traffic on my side of the road chose to squeeze me into oblivion (my fault, should have pulled in earlier). I pulled up alongside the stationary car and leaned over away from the lorry to allow him to continue thundering through....

Ride safe guys!

Chose to stay home and work from the sofa today, bike lives outside so couldn't be bother digging it out of the 6 inch of snow around it, plus not had one gritter go by in the last 24 hours, so roads a slick round my way.

Back to it tomorrow though so will be shoveling snow later making a suitable path to the main road as I live on an un-adopted road. Just hope main roads are passable by them and rest of the motorist are on my side.

Stay safe all.

I would normally use the bike in light snow or when snow is falling, Just the digging the bike out part is difficult, when you do not own a shovel or spade (I know who doesn't own such tool these days),

-7 this morning according to the thermometer in the wagon (which I had to move as her indoors parked it right up to the garage).

Pretty nippy on the motorway, but a lovely sunrise. Also, it seemed to get light very early this morning.

Good for you mate but I am retiring for the rest of the winter. I would ride in the daytime but I doubt I'll get a chance.

No sure of the temp this morning but was a parky ride in, by time got to work my fingers were on the verge of numbness. Makes for a difficult ride. Plenty ice about too seems to of been a lack of gritting round my way.

I'm going straight through as usual, though this year is the first winter commuting on proper and extensive country roads. I was thinking I'd squared my rear off the other morning - after only 2k! - but after examination I think it was just rather icey!

Lovely out there this morning and was very nice to be settling off in day light (just).

Had a bit of an eye opener on the M1 while filtering passed 2 white vans... I went between them and as I passed them I leaned to get back into lane 2 while applying a some throttle. Next thing the revs shoot up and the arse is sliding around like a good'un. It must have been an amusing sight for the van drivers at least.

I am sitting in the house after hitting ice this morn and doing the splits trying to keep the bike up.
Feels like my leg has been pulled away from the body at the time,Now just throbbing away while I feel sheepish and stupid with myself.
So not only do I have to sit around the house while I dont earn money(self employed) I have to look out at the dry day thinking I would like to be out for a ride lol.

How you finding this? I have one but i'm struggling with my ears which is down to riding. If I ride too much I end up deaf for a couple of days. Wondering if its my lid being too noisey or windy?

More on topic though. Decided to take mine out on Thursday to my girlfriends as it was pretty mild out and not bad, soon as I got there the heavens opened up. Leaving friday morning the roads were clear but snow in the fields which was pretty surreal.

Even though the conditions were far from perfect, plenty of drivers on their mobiles, also some moron driving in the middle of the road coming at me wasn't pleasant, forced me right over. Wasn't a wide road but it didn't warrant his road position.

I find it quite good, I find the fit great but it does have a little whistle from the top vents even when closed.
But my last lid was a cheap box thing. Heavy, clumbersome and very very loud over 50mph so the new lid is like being in a anechoic chamber compared to that.

I got some, I had some decent surefire ones from ages ago. Everytime I put them in and then my helmet they don't seat properly. Will try another set in the summer.
