Wimped out today
Discussion
It's still pretty warm.
I had a thermal shirt, regular office shirt and then Goretex jacket with the thermal liner removed on the way in yesterday. I was too hot. I took the thermal shirt off for the way back. Even this morning I took the train then went for a walk. An office shirt plus a very light unzipped fleece was plenty.

I totally missed seeing (until the last moment) a bike which was sat in front of a car opposite me. Bikes headlight was exactly in the way of the car headlight. And if you want to change lanes, it's easy to miss a filtering bike behind you in the sea of headlights. Just been out again on the bike and it is a lot more pleasant when it is daylight.
Paint headlight yellow like you used to have to do to visit France years ago - makes bikes stand out more. I used to paint just one headlight on the R1 to give it the Le Mans 24h racer look and kept it for winter commuting because a colleague coming back from a late appointment spotted me in traffic going home and commented on it the next day.

I've been seriously thinking of doing that for a while now; it really does may you stand out so much more.I used to paint just one headlight on the R1 to give it the Le Mans 24h racer look and kept it for winter commuting because a colleague coming back from a late appointment spotted me in traffic going home and commented on it the next day.

Rode in today. Road was piss wet through, but it wasn't raining or windy. Pretty warm in fact.
The low morning winter sun reflecting off the road was a bit rubbish though. I ride directly East for 30 miles in the morning, have the same to look forward to on the way back.
Mine is the same...M40?The low morning winter sun reflecting off the road was a bit rubbish though. I ride directly East for 30 miles in the morning, have the same to look forward to on the way back.
I've had to take the car as my MSX125 megabike was in for warranty work (electrical glitch, damn Thai construction).
If I go by train, I have to walk a mile, if I park in town, I have to walk about 3/4 mile, I can park the bike in our building's car park.
Just fitting a front fender extender to stop the engine getting such a hammering from road grit.

I was at home today, but felt a bit miserable mid afternoon so fetched one of the bikes and had a quick blast down to the Ace Cafe and back. Pissing rain and lots of filtering, what's not to like? I did have a slightly damp tshiirt when I got back. stty HG zips.
Oh dear. Contents of my inside pockets are also damp. Hopefully just the 'waterproof' front zip failing and water migrating inwards, not the membrane giving up. Don't particulalry want to loose the best part of £2k on Rukka gear. Load of arse. Deranged Granny said:

Filtering in heavy traffic when it is dark and raining really does suck balls. Even if you put a yellow headlight on your bike, everyone else still has a white headlight and it is very tricky spotting bikes also filtering up behind you when you change position. Plus in general it is harder to judge distance at night. More stuff can go wrong; I don't like it. creampuff said:

New Hondas have the front indicators lit permanently as position lights. It seems to work.creampuff said:
FWIW, my winter gear is a IXS (really cheap brand, plus I bought mine in Vietnam, so it may also be fake as well as cheap) jacket which really is 100% totally waterproof. Even at motorway speeds in continuous heavy rain for 3 hours, it was totally waterproof.
My IXS jacket is also st and leaks.Maybe these fkers just see me coming and use it as an opportunity to palm off all their st stock.
Grim as fk today. Greyer than a tramp's bathwater with thick fog. Perfect middle ground between the sun being too bright in patches to be comfortable, but putting the sun visor down really hindered visibility. Plus very little overtaking on the Acle straight (those from the area will understand) so took another 10 minutes to get to work.
No rain this morning but it seems International wk Driver Day is upon us so quickly after the last one.
Cars driving hugging the white line to navigate, some myopic old cow trying to text not realising the lights had changed and by the time she has put the phone down and put it in gear, the lights changed back again. Another tit on BMW bike with a bright green helmet filtering slower than I could walk, and just general shyte driving
Roll on home time so I can repeat running the gauntlet again
