Another rain free morning, although roads where damp, minimal traffic, which was a bonus, only had to filter once.

Although some crazy bat in a Zafira pulled half way along side me at a junction in order to go when I did, not had that before.

My IXS jacket is also st and leaks.

Maybe these fkers just see me coming and use it as an opportunity to palm off all their st stock.
Maybe I ended up with a Vietnamese fake IXS which happens to be more waterproof than a real IXS biggrin

I've got 3 x IXS jackets (either fake or genuine, whichever they are but all purchased from the same shop in Ho Chi Minh City) and they are all genuinely waterproof. I'm reluctant to spend £400 on a better brand when my cheapies are waterproof and I always see people moaning that their expensive jacket isn't wink

The only thing with them is that it is an internal membrane which is waterproof so the outer shell still gets wet, which means the jacket gets heavy and evaporation off the wet outer layer can make you cold.

Bone dry this morning... rather warm as well so reckon back to summer gloves tomorrow as apparently the temp is rising towards the weekend. Had a rather nice ride in following another R1 through traffic... although I reckon its time for new rubber as the bike feels fidgity at filtering pace with the steering following the bumps in the road probably due to the flat spotting. Some teachers strike going on outside work today with some fat wker putting his hand up to stop me riding into the car park... a bit of clutch slip and 10,000rpm + got him moving rather quickly out of my way. hehehehe

Monday morning I had to commute in the rush hour, normally I can avoid it, but my 10 year old £15 Peter Storm over trousers have finally given up so I headed for the train station.

It was a 15 mile commute from SW London to Stratford in East London. It took over 2 hours. The crowds and queues were horrendous.

Need some over trousers that pack small desperately. How do people do that day in, day out.

Even though overcast and grey and dark no rain this morning. Still the same level of numptyness with certain drivers who feel moving from one lane queue to another will get them somewhere in london quicker.
Anyway not too cold still - given it supposed to be getting warmer again.. I may have to re-remove one layer I've added in the past week or so.

Also of course typical now I've received the add on visor vee wipe for my new HG goretex gloves which don't have the built in one I can't test it out!
lol no doubt many more chances coming!

I rode in again this morning and all was well. Not even much fog although that didn't stop loads of cars being lit up like a Christmas Tree. It's warm enough that I may even extend my bike commuting for another couple of weeks.

Rode to work yesterday which is a 5 miles of town riding and 15 miles of country roads. A bit damp on the roads but I avoided the rain going to and from work. Going home from work last night at 11pm had a bit of a fright when a badger walked out in front of me. I was doing about 50 mph and managed to brake in time. The badger wasn't bothered at all and carried on walking across without a care in the world.

The rule of thumb from U.S. riders where there is more wildlife around is that if it is small enough to eat in a single sitting, just run it over.

Was riding along a dual carriageway today, 50 limit (at the limit), pigeon swoops down from the right and I duck as it's getting abit too close for comfort, about 10 feet in front of me, now normally they carry on at a 90 degree angle and disappear... this one turned 90 degrees and flew literally within arms reach of my head in font of me on the left side, matching my speed at 50mph, for about 2-3 seconds. My instructor was amazed, he'd never seen anything like it! I if was a bit quicker I could've been having pidgeon pie tonight laugh

Back on topic - my furygan duke trousers have kept me bone dry this week and last week, through biblical end-of-the-world type rain storms, with 6 foot wide rivers running down the roads.

Drove in this morning as it was grim but it wasn't raining when I had the dogs out at lunchtime so I hopped on the toy to get back to work. Started drizzling while I was at work which wasn't an issue until we had to move my bike out of it's dry spot for access to the shed and the rain started properly.

Got a rather soggy backside on the ride home frown . On the upside it was only drizzling again and was pleasantly refreshing to ride in smile

Decided to ride in today - wasn't too bad, bit chilly at 7am though. Got a Shoei GT air (is £200 in Japan rather than £400 here!!) is much quieter than the HJC carbon I was using previously. Downside is glasses steamed up nicely frown

Was nice this morning & leaving early today so decided to use the bike... well the dryness lasted for all of two minutes! 45 minute commute later I'm still dry despite no special "wet weather" kit.

However as I have a Triumph no doubt it'll now melt in the car park and I'll return to find a pile of components on the floor here the bike used to be... wink

Rode in today as I'm dropping the bike off after work to have a couple of things done.

Sods law it's been the most flooded it has been in ages, sewers overflowing on dual carriageways and footpeg deep in places. Thankfully all my wet gear held up and I'm dry.

I think I'm going to carry on riding to work until the frosts descend. With no other viable parking (except for a bike) it's the nicest option (other choices involve 40 minutes walking + extra 30 minutes driving or 20 miles cycling per day...)

I'm only 3 months into my big bike riding career (2003 CBR600F) and do find it a bit like a sail in high winds but otherwise its been pretty uneventful touch wood. Its not an exciting route, semi urban with moderate traffic and just short 60mph single carriageway and a few hundred yards 70mph dual carriageway sections. I do a fair amount of careful filtering and break no records speed wise. I do think a more modern ABS equipped naked bike might make more sense in some ways but I keep my distance and slow for junctions so have not troubled the brakes on the CBR too much and it's hard to fault.
