Have just read through the entire thread.. excellent effort in bringing back this bike to her former glory. Never owned a VFR myself, but I did have a VF400F and VF500II back in the early 90s and loved the silky V4 engine.
That is a beautiful colour too. I quite fancy the idea of owning one of the first VFRs..in white.
Cheers. That pearl white used on the first VFR's is definitely the best colour.

Red ones are the slowest!

I still have the VFR. It's been stored outside over the winter so will need a clean up. Hopefully back on the road in the next fortnight.

Another new VFR750 owner here.

Had mine just one week but already managed to put over 200 miles on it. Lovely bike.

I'm based in Germany so the autobahn has allowed me to really test out that high speed stability!

Meant to update this ages ago at the start of summer.

Bike started first time ( battery had been on charge indoors over the winter ). It did leak petrol from a perished hose tho, where it joins the tank. Fixed this but it'll need a new hose. And two of the fairing bolts had gone rusty. I've replaced them, but being cheap I've bought the wrong size. Gave it a oil and filter change too.

It's been used most days through the summer with very little problems. Scotoiler has stopped working, so that'll need looking at.

Thought I'd better check the mot date only to find it had already expired. Then it failed on a front wheel bearing so that's been changed.

The baglux cover has been badly bleached by the sun. I'll try and get some colour back into it but I think it's done.

The fuel switch has never worked great, so I've bought new cables. Still needs fitted.

Apart from that, the old bike still goes great.

Over the winter I've been gathering up bits off eBay. Future plans include fitting the firestorm brakes. New fork internals and rear shock. I've also got a stainless exhaust for when this one gives up completely.

I've also got a watch on eBay for a carbon exhaust. Preferably a yoshi but they're rare as fk.

This winter / next spring I'm meaning to give it a fairly big tidy up but I'm sure I said that last year

First update of the year. I only put the bike back on the road about 3 weeks ago. My back and knee are playing up which makes working on the bike difficult. FFS I’m not even 50!

Anyway, bike started first time, changed the oil and filter and cleaned the chain.

Gave it a wash, got rid of the tank cover and added a Givi tanklock tank bag. Only thing I’ve done this year is add this eBay special. [url]

It’s made by “ Carbon King “, anyone heard of them? My only worry was flat spots but it still fuels perfectly.

I’ve got a loft full of tat that I’ve bought over the winter, hopefully make a start on it soon.

How many miles is it making between mot's?

I love racking up the miles keeping an older bike going. The hornet might still have had some use if some tit hadn't nicked it.

Good on you PP!

I still miss mine a times. Plates was L748 VAV and was in the same colours.

I sold it to get a 96 blade
Didn't look as tidy as yours in the end hehe

Pravus, between my 2 bike, I probably only do 2 / 3000 miles per summer. Last year was lower, as will be this year.

Tom, post a picture of you doing a wheelie, and I’ll claim it as mine!

Thought I’d better update my virtual service history from last year.

Oil and filter done at the start of summer.

I thought the charging system wasn’t 100%, so checked that over to find the reg wiring dodgy. Pretty common on old Hondas.
Bought a cheap R1 shindengen mofset reg from eBay USA. Think it cost under £30 including delivery.

Used Triumph pig tails (£13) for wiring it up.

One of my wing mirrors fell off ( I’m sure one fell off last year too ).

Replaced with 2 non oe mirrors from a 2000 VFR. Got them from M and P, great quality too.

Got a carbon exhaust and a tank bag.

Parked up at Edinburgh Airport, going to the TT. Sure I saw Scunnylad’s bike parked on the front.

Hopefully in the next few days I’ll have the battery fitted, oil and filter changed, washed and a quick check over.
