Serious question - what is the cause of the recent slump in MM's results (by his standards)?

tbh it would have been 5 out of 5 if he hadn't have gone a bit cross eyed at the end of the 2011 season.

Honda have allowed Yamaha to close the gap as theyre probably focussing efforts on 2015. So he has lost that advantage but I dont think that is entriely the reason for some odd results.

A couple of the last few races have been affected by weather - no one else on a Honda was competitive at PI and seemed to be just luck of the tyre draw and Aragon was unfortunate, had he stayed on he would have been a hero rather than zero having stayed on slicks in st conditions. And then with the championship to clinch a 4th or so is better than the gravel trap.

A few wobbles shoudlnt detract from an otherwise outstanding year. He only has to beat his rivals, 2 of whom have won 10+ titles between them and were regarded as the aliens.

Time will tell but this wont be his last title.

I'm not so sure he's going to have it so easy next season though, As unless the 2015 Honda is a huge step forward over this years bike, then I think Yamaha will be snapping at their heels right from the off.

This always irks me;

The original playstation was launched in 1994. That's 20 years ago. Marc Marquez was 1 year old (2 years old?). Valentino rossi was 11 years old, prime playstation target (infact he had a playstation controller image on the petrol tank of his NSR500).

When the Playstation was launched, most bikes were still on carbs, didnt have fancy electronics. To be of "the playstation generation" doesnt mean anything. There are several "playstation" generations now. And preceeding that, we had the SNES and MegaDrive generations.

So what does it mean? Have these people who bandy about the term "playstation generation" ever picked up a controller and played a game on its hardest level and done well at their first go? Maybe not. How about taking a modern console and popping in something like call of duty, forza, gran turismo, gone online and instantly kiccked ass? Probably not. But there are a few who are really really fking brilliant at computer games. And those are the sorts of people with the kind of cognitive processing that isnt differant to someone like Marquez, Rossi, Criville, Doohan, Roberts, Lorenzo, Schwantz...so on and so on.

Riding a full-fat motogp bike takes serious big balls and seriously good cognitive abilities. Just because it's 2014 and no-one uses carbs and everyone has electronic "aids", doesnt make them less of a rider. If it were so, why isnt Valentino running rings aorund everyone with his supposedly easier-to-ride yamaha, with all its FI and traction control and what not?

Marc Marquez is good because he is. He is one of those genetic freaks. look at his brother as well. I dare say their dad can ride a bike or do something else challenging very well too.

oh yes, and quite proud that I've got this old whilst riding motorbikes, racing cars and generally behaving like a 19 year old for the last 40 years beer

If the 1955 is representative of your birth year, I would say there's not a lot in it between you and Andy

The theme tune to Rawhide is called 'Rawhide' so my guess is 'Tawhide'?
