Yes it does slow you down not being fit tony,

The last one I did I was knackered after 4 laps due to the heat.

I was drinking up to 3 litres a day and was using glucose/salt tablets in the water. I didn't eat anything other than a single cheese and ham bun and 4 bananas

8 pints every night may not help though

Again, being fit doesn't make you fast. It may help maintain your pace, I agree, but being fast is down to a whole load of other things

No one has said it makes you fast, only you.

Ok Mr pedantic, It would let me be able to finish a session and not feel like I am minutes away from passing out when I pull in

Get stuck into the old fool Alex. It's like trying to explain something to a woman

I haven't said it makes you fast at all, I suggested that being fit isn't the only deciding factor that makes you fast.

MTB - try the insanity T25 workouts. They are 25 minutes, very similar style to the standard insanity. But only 25 minutes. Ive done it for about 3 months and now just do it, 5 days a week. And my fitness has improved massively from it.

Worth a shot.

Having lost loads of weight I can honestly say that being fit makes so much more difference (im still slow on track but hey!)
Trying to turn with an extra eight stone isnt great.

MTB try Spinning classes 45min of cardio and pure fat burning or try circuit training
Keeping your heart rate up stready or an hour will burn fat far quicker.

I am now heading for late life sloath, but used to row.

Well standard owing club training was; Monday 4 mile run and circuits, Tuesday 4 mile run and weights, Wednesday 6 miles in the boat, Thursday 4 mile run and circuits, Friday off in the pub and drink, Saturday on the water at 8am and double 6 mile outing, Sunday repeat Saturday.

Oh with lots of ergo's as well!

In the summer this was broken by weekends away at competitions, involving camping and drinking.

The benefit to being fit you can maintain control for longer due to the extra stamina.

Secondly most rowing clubs are 50/50 women and men, and the women train as hard as the men (some are slim, some could carry you home under one arm), so lots of fit women wearing lycra and drinking with you all eve before needing to be kept warm in their tents later.

And you will go faster if you are fitter (and lighter)! The amount of weight saved with trick bits and carbonfibre on a bike are less than most of us being on a diet for 2 months>

we have a winner, I did another one tonight and after a week of insanity this is much easier and bang 25 minutes and your done, not almost an hour.

its 25 minutes of constant exercise and I managed most of it with only a few stops for a drink.

Seems much better than insanity where I feel like dying at the end of it. Lots of similar squats and st but a lot less intense and to be honest more enjoyable. It still has the desired effect, i start out in a t-shirt and short and by the end of it im down to my boxers with the sweat dripping down my arse crack.
