Even big training schools are quiet this time of year, so I doubt they were too busy to get back to you. It sounds to me more like they probably didn't want to go to the time and expense of taking you out again. I'd be looking for at least a partial refund, personally. As above, good job on not being put off, get back on the horse and get it done.

Hi, update - the school never came back to me. I chased via telephone (mobile number) and text message, as well as an email. I have given them sufficient time in my mind.

Very disappointing. The school was RJH Group based in Manchester - there website came across as very professional. I hope this was a one off for them and i simply got lost between the cracks (bad few weeks?)

Will be moving onto another school to complete my CBT and DAS.

Thanks
Now call MSM

Are the euros trying to legislate bikers off the road by making these assessments harder and harder each year?
No.

Did my CBT with them. Thought they were fine to be honest. I did my DAS with Roadriders in Droylsden though and they were great. I think I changed because it was a bit cheaper.

I washed my bike this morning and as a drying out run I popped down to the local training ground for the school I used to pass DAS - I'm no groupie, it was my first and only visit since passing in mid August smile They were full today of CBT and A2 license candidates and told me they had booking into December and already some lined up for the New Year (a first apparently to have these booking already in by November).

I sense biking is having a mini resurgence in some areas so schools are not necessarily quiet. Given how many booking are on word of mouth and reputation it seems very foolish to ignore people...

Small update - Went with MSM, passed/completed CBT. Brilliant school, well recommended and should be commended with approach and patience. Instructor was Ferg, clicked with him instantly and requested him for my Mod1 and Mod2.

CBT was ace, so simple, and i was grinning like a t**t all the way round, even when someone pulled out on me... which was an experience, but luckily i saw the signs and slowed/stopped.

DAS/MOD1 booked in for this weekend coming. MOD2 paid up, but not booked yet. Got home to find a £1,600 tax bill from HMRC - talk about highs and lows.

Car MOt'd with no minors, tax'd, and insured for another year - will be putting it up for sale as soon as i pass my mod2 and buying a bmw touring with a tow bar (for towing a bike as Outlon Park is 30 minutes away) - if anyone is interested in a 12-reg F10 M5......

thumbup I guess you had decent weather to do it in as well? My uncle had to ride 50 odd miles in torrential rain to get to the MOD1 test centre, and when he got there the examiner wasn't at all keen to go out and asked (very hopefully) whether my uncle wanted to cancel and rebook it smile

Drizzle and rain mid-afternoon, quite slippery out. I've ended up with a cold/flu this weekend.

This f**king bike malarky is starting to get expensive..

Failed Mod1. I put my foot down in the U-turn because i wasn't carrying enough momentum, and there was a bloody big gust of wind.

Hazard avoidance was my biggest worry - mainly due to being caught out by the speed trap. However, i blew through that no problems.

What properly f**ks me off is that i practiced it pretty much most of the morning, my slow moving - balance, slalom, figure of 8, walking speed, etc is ace.

Even the tester called me a knob afterwards as he could see that i could do it fine, and had been doing it before in front of him in other moves, yet the one time i needed to do it...

Upside is i did not lose my head, i carried on with the mod1 as a bit of a confidence builder for the next time. Booked for two weeks time... FFS.

Unlucky chap, at least the bit you worried about you know isn't a worry.

Chalk it up to experience, I started to work out what bikes had cost me in my first year. I got to a figure I wasn't happy with and stopped counting hehe

But it's worth it in the end, best of luck next time!

don't worry about it, once you get out on the road you don't ever need to do it again. Better to put that foot down safely than fall over in the road!

Au contraire. After your test, keep practicing manoeuvres in a car park every week or so. You will soon have better bike handling skills than about 90% of riders and you'll leave your mates standing as you whip your bike around and out of car parks whilst they are all paddling theirs about.

You'll crack it and it'll be so worth it - the best thing you ever did that you wished you did sooner. The expense will pale into insignificance.

Keep at it.

Trying to be sensible - Something along the lines of a CBR600RR or a R6. It's a weekend toy. Give it a season then onto something i actually want once the insurance drops.

Probably look to get onto a track day with smallboy track bikes with people from here. Ideally Oulton Park.
