On my way to Bristol today, got as far as Hemel, pulled in for petrol et voila, no fking clutch. Bollcoks. First sign of trouble was pulling off the drive, but then it was ok filtering through some local traffic, so I forgot about it. Should have known better.

I was due to do an oil change on the 950 soon anyway, so it could be worse. At least the Thundercat clutch works decently now though after I rebuilt it earlier in the year, so that gives me some comfort.

Maybe I need a third road bike just in case....?

Edit: sorry if the title makes this post seem potentially interesting, I didn't mean to deliberately mislead.

KTM??

It might just need bleeding or new seals, either way make sure you use the correct Magura mineral fluid and not brake/hydraulic fluid.

Most likely slave cylinder, replace with a nice unit from Oberon Performance for solid reliability and improved clutch feel... smile

Long shot, but do you have heated grips?

Nope. I'll have a good look next week, hopefully it'll be a simple case of fitting some new plates and springs or bleeding/twiddling with the slave cylinder thing.

Have you got a seep up on the master cylinder(look for signs of mineral oil around/along the clutch lever)? If it is you can buy a repair kit,(but don't bother), as the bores inside the master wears which means you'll only probably get another 5k out of it once repaired. Easier/cheaper in the long run to replace the whole master cylinder.
The repair kit is about £27,clutch master about £200.

Nothing noticeable, but I really need to have a proper poke around this weekend.

Finally got around to looking at this and having bled the system all is fine. There wasn't an obvious leak and it has an Oberon slave, so possible gradual seepage from the MC over time. I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Check the bearing in the clutch pressure plate, if it seizes, the clutch pushrod spins, first sign is it starts to get air in it, then it weeps, then its FUBAR. Even after market slaves are not immune!

Good call, mine did this took me an age to find the problem, wasn't until I took my slave apart and discovered that the push rod had drilled itself through the piston did I work out what was happening!

Now have a stack of the £3 bearing!! just in case. smile
