Agree about the silent = dangerous. Not ideal, but sooner rather than later I guess we will get laws so that these things make some kind of artificial noise while in a city.

That said, I'd find this

a lot more interesting than a dirt bike (which will suffer more under the weight of the batteries).
Not sure if they still plan on making it though.
KTM officially cancelled it a few months ago.

My Orange 224 weighs around 85kg less.....and if you're pedalling a DH bike downhill at Fort William you're Steve Peat. Gravity tends to get me down perfectly well!

"..electric vehicles require virtually no maintenance, in fact the Freeride needs 155ml of oil every 50 hours in its motor, air in the tyres and the crash damage fixed when required - that's it.."

Er, what about chain, sprockets, bearings, brakes?? Especially if you're off-roading in muck and water.

Havent heard 1 iota about mx tracks being shut for noise problems. If anything more and more are popping up in the SW.

Long live the 2 & 4t's !

Aye, mountain bikes require constant fettling.

:-/. But thanks for the bad news. Pity really, most e-scooters I've seen seem all to sensible and economy minded, ie. boring.

Pish. Dangerous = Dangerous. In practice, loud things at speed cant be heard until they're virtually past you anyway.

E=Parks is a great idea but the cost of the land required to make it accessible (yes, you could fit a MX track in a very small space but only a small proportion of people can safely use or have fun on one) might mean its impractical anyway.

Well yesterday was 21st February. I went out and bought myself a freeride e sx. It's road legal and I get the plates at the end of the month but so far so good on the off road stuff. I have several other bikes (5) and cars (5) but this is my first venture into the electric world. I figured that if the average flying lap speed record at the TT is 132.2mph on a completely bananas works suported Honda CBR1000RR ridden by an even more bananas Bruce Ansty then the electric lap record (albeit for 1 lap standing start) at 117mph ridden by John McGuinness (21 times TT champion) is close enough.

If anyone who is thinking about buying one and wants to ask me a question then feel free!

Is it just twist and go, no gearing? Is it possible to wheelie?

I really fancy one of these when I've got some money saved up. The idea of greenlaning and coming across a NIMBY rambler and confusing them when you pull away in silence would be fantastic.

No gearing just twist and go, it will wheelie in setting 3 which is the most powerful. Having just ridden it, it could really do with a clutch so you can provoke it in other settings. Having said that I'm just learning how to ride it. Setting 1 is very gentle and you could let the kids ride it when they can touch the ground with their feet.

It's not completely silent, it sounds like an electric chainsaw but compared with my WR450 it's silent and flameless lol.

I must have had 1001 cups of tea waiting for me over the years, either all my friends are psychic, or yours are all deaf.
