Fireblade 2008/2009

Just seen this...
I have a 08 white / black blade (was on the cover of performance bikes last month), have owned it for 3 years now. Doesn't burn oil luckily (though if tracked, keep an eye on levels!), though had issues with some gaskets - cam sensor gasket went, weeping oil down the front of the block (replaced by dealer), then the cam cover gasket (so it had the big 16k service early!). Finish isn't the greatest, with paint rubbing off the frame and swingarm from boots etc.
Mine is currently on the ramp being stripped and cleaned / upgraded. I fitted an Ohlins TTX last month (removing the pillion pegs whilst I did it). I have a set of samco hoses and a power commander to fit now, as well as a heap of titanium bolts (the standards bolts look pretty shoddy by now). Then its a dyno session and a trip to MCT for set-up, prior to the spring! Its a great bike, and complements my other bikes wonderfully!

Nice bike.
I agree with your comments about the frame colour - black looks way better on these than silver. Same goes for the swingarm.
There have only been a few decent colour combinations on the blades for years now IMO. The black/white/black-frame there is one of them.
I waited and waited for something decent to come out. Nearly went for the white with a touch of blue/red HRC colours with black frame from 2012, but bottled it as it wasn't quite nice enough. I liked the red/black but not enough. Then the HRC from 2013 looked great but ruined by silver frame/swingarm and gold shocks. Then finally they put the black shocks, black frame, black swingarm together with the HRC colours this year and i went for it.
Were you tempted to look at a 12 plate onwards model? A few around for a grand or two more.

Cheers for the information. I've heard of the paint rubbing off on the frame and swingarm and I will be putting something in place to protect these parts... but I was hoping with it being the revised 2010 model they might have sorted this properly by now?I have a 08 white / black blade (was on the cover of performance bikes last month), have owned it for 3 years now. Sounds good... planning a few things myself but surprised it needs a PC... I thought these would easily be flashed for setup?

Cheers... but no I wasn't tempted by the 12 plate as my budget was £6500. If I'd had more money then I would have bought the BMW S1000RR... but for £7k they are all high milers and I didn't want anything with more than 5,000 miles.I agree with your comments about the frame colour - black looks way better on these than silver. If you buy a decent can & link pipe with lambda, theres a neat trick to getting it to run properly without a dyno session....

Done it for years on cars mate... never had an issue. Lots of people on the R1 forums seem to flash newer bikes now?If you buy a decent can & link pipe with lambda, theres a neat trick to getting it to run properly without a dyno session....
Decent can? - recommendations?
I do REALLY REALLY fancy a Racefit... I'm riding past their workshop tomorrow on the way back from collecting the bike.
