Went on Sunday, great show but very draining with all the people there.
R1 was great looking and the paint on the H2 was awesome.
Saw a young girl knock over one of the Ariel bikes, luckily she got out of the way before it hit the ground. Not sure why, but Ariel were one of the only guys to not use the sturdy bike stands or mark them not to sit on - accident waiting to happen.
Didn't stick around to see the damage...
Sorry but why not, I firmly would have rubber necked that one.R1 was great looking and the paint on the H2 was awesome.

Triumph need to do something, their whole line-up looks very stale and dated.
Nothing photo worthy at all.
They're selling pretty damn well still..Nothing photo worthy at all.
I still think they need a litre sports bike, despite their claims that there's no market for one...
The 675 looks pretty much the same as it has since launch....Like I said, they look stale and dated.
Slap a Union Jack on anything and someone will buy it if priced right.

They rule the 600 market, the 675 is actually worse looking that the original.
Whilst I can see where your coming from, its a bit like saying, "well I have Penelope Cruz sitting at home and have so for years, she's great she does everything you could want but sometimes I wish I could just trade her in for a shot of Jodie Marsh as a I fancy a change and a downgrade".
Suzuki have committed millions to refreshing everything. It's just work in progress.
The Japs have woken up I think. First Kawasaki, then Yamaha. Suzuki are similarly committed, and I'm sure Honda will follow (although I've not seen similar press releases). Don't forget this is nation who's modern trade ambition was built on the phrase "catch up and overcome".
Interesting times. Whether or not you like BMW they have done a great job of waking the sleeping giants. But I really don't see where it leaves Triumph though, they will get left behind at this rate. The British especially don't tend to buy because of national pride, they buy what's best. A lesson the bike industry should know well.

I think the 675 is the best of the 600 class, and the <12 model with the underseat exhaust (that I happen to own) is the best of the bunch.
Suzuki needs to refresh their range, Triumph don't really need to IMO..
Surely you have forgotten the Gladius.Suzuki needs to refresh their range, Triumph don't really need to IMO..
I mean even if it was sort of an okay bike, you couldn't go around saying "I ride a gladius, latin for sword don't you know". I mean its the gayest name for a bike I have ever seen.

Triumph have actually built bikes people want to buy, at the right time i.e. adventure bikes and retro bikes. The Street Triple was also a great idea which still doesn't have any real competitors.
Why change a winning formula?
I'd say because you don't keep winning by not changing and the competitors are gearing up. That was my point before, the British bike industry is regarded by many to have died almost entirely by not keeping up with the Japs, it would be a shame to make the same mistake twice. Why change a winning formula?
Also the Yamaha MT-09 is a budget competitor isn't it? It's got a triple and everything.

Mrs Johnny wanted to sit and take one off the stand to get a feel for it... I was worried about her dropping it as she's not used to the weight. Had a chat with one of the Ariel guys and he was very helpful and told her to go go for it, he'd help if needed. She thought it was great, with it not being on a fixed stand. He told us they we're supposed to be but they had been let down by the supplier. Seemed lots of people thought it was a plus point according to him...

Triumph are focusing on the big Adventure "Riding to Costa coffee" market........... what sells.
EFA Adventures and retro classics are what's popular at the moment, and Triumph cater well to this. They also have a lot more in the pipeline in this regards.
It's highly unlikely they will or should invest the money in big Daytona, they'd never see a return on it.

Especially if they tell potential customers it should NOT be used on track Adventures and retro classics are what's popular at the moment, and Triumph cater well to this. They also have a lot more in the pipeline in this regards.

Spectacular fanny award goes to the MT09 competition stand run by MCN I think?
Not sure I agree with that, I thought the MCN girls were low resolution foxes - there was a stunner on Ducati though, sat on a Panigale for ages in the hope that she'd come and take down my particulars.Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
