Yeah it looks like retro modern is the theme for the next couple of years. So many manufacturers pushing the look and trying to sell a lifestyle.

I picked up a textile jacket for the winter commute. Whilst all the new bikes were lovely,I found myself concerned at the lack of younger people at the show, and saddened at the price of what is now an 'affordable' bike. Prices have risen much quicker than wages these last 10 years, its not the disposable income toy it once was.
Talking of the price of bikes.
I was chatting with an old chap on the Yamaha Stand, we were both wowed by the V-Max (he owns two of the early ones)...we were both shocked that it is OVER £20K for the new one!!!!!

What about the Herald stand. very cheap bikes that would appeal to youngsters. never heard of them but they certainly looked the part which is all you really need to attract the younger audience. £2500 on the road for some models!

I went on Thursday, spent most of the day just sitting on various machines I've got no chance of affording but I can dream!
Couldn't get a place on any of the test rides as the places filled within a minute or two of becoming available but did get an escorted ride around the countryside on an MT09 as those places seemed undersubscribed. Brilliant fun for an absolute novice, probably not so exciting for a seasoned rider but it made my day smile.

If you have an Arai helmet I can't recommend he free helmet service enough. I had a cracked rear fin, if you like on my Chaser V. That was replaced for free! They gave my helmet a good polish too.......
Likewise. Front vent on mine was broken and taped up. Come back and they've put a new one on and given it a DAMN good clean. Unreal. Worth the price of entry alone.

Yea the noise of the H2 certainly filled the hall, bit of a pita when you're trying to ask for a pair of boots to try on, what is the price of blahblah, it is *loud*. Just sounds regular Kwak though? Maybe I was too far away to hear it properly, doesn't seem to me they were really running it into boost though.
It's a supercharger, they pretty much boost from tickover, standing next to it while they were doing the dyno runs I can honestly say I've never seen anything go through gears like it, it pulls like a MotoGP bike. They were still running it in on Tuesday so they were stopping at 11-12 thousaand RPM instead of the 14 grand redline and it was still making over 300 bhp

Just headed home from this.

My first time at the show and it's safe to say I'll never go back to the Scottish one.

Lots to see and enjoyed it very much. The Kawasaki on the dyno was worth the trip alone.

Only slight disappointment was the lack of any real bargains.

I did get some new astar boots with £20 Off what I would pay online from the ask price now best in show Guy

Most of the stuff was online prices and I imagine would be even higher in the opening days.

The lid I got on Friday was £80 dearer there.

But On a whole rather enjoyed it. Not something I'd go to ever year though.

I got Sidi boots from Infinity for about £50 off "typical" online prices (unless you count ordering from Germany?) and even if it works out the same price as online, it's good to have the chance to try everything on with all the retailers together. Lid was about £25 cheaper than a UK online retailer too, so made money back on that alone smile

No they don't, but as they were taking it up to 12k I'm sure it was, I guess the whooshing of the compressor is relatively quiet or didn't carry around the hall, overall though it was loud enough that I didn't want to talk over it down at the other (A*) Infinity boot stand.. although looking at the program now I can't work out where that was and I'm realising just how much I missed, so focussed was I on gear shopping I barely looked at any bikes hehe

I got alpine star boots for 160 against Demon Tweeks 229 price, so I'm happy. also tempted y the fact that there might be one or two fire blade SPs knocking about still. apparently according to honda, there will be more from Jan but they will all be Repsol with 93 on, which doesn't float my boat

Swift visit to the show today.

Kawasaki absolutely stole the show with the H2R. When it was on the dyno the place stopped. I was about 5 meters from it and could listen to it banging through the gears all day. What a noise, groin stirring stuff!!! A friend has placed his deposit and I can't wait to see the H2 on the road, roll on March.

Picked up a new set of boots, £315 down to £250 which worked for me. New gloves and some Oberon parts for the MV.

In and out in 3 hours as my mate is working nights tonight.

Really enjoyed the show again this year. That H2R sounds epic!

Loved looking at all of the new machinery, especially those bikes I'm in the market to buy next year and narrowing it down to those I want to test ride in the spring. Really disappointed that the new Versys 1000 felt/looked so cheap and the new tracer was a bit compromised in all aspects.

The adventure market is clearly growing and it was good for my FIL that all the adventure offerings on display had a low seat version to try out. Although, why BMW only had 1 S1000XR on show was strange, especially with the low seat fitted.

We also got a great deal on some new helmets with coms. Around 35% off the cheapest internet prices. Very happy.

They had two, a Red one and a white one.

I was there too yesterday and yes the Kawasaki really stole the show when it was being run. It sounded FANTASTIC (although I thought it looked a bit "Halfordsy"). I thought the R1 looked really nice (except the silly round lower headlight/indicator thingies). Very dissapointed by the Honda stand, especially the dated look of the fireblade (eg lets try diverting the attention to a bunch of idiots banging drums). Finally gave in and bought a set of Handroid knox gloves as a Xmas pressie to myself.. Merry Xmas me !!!!

I went along on Saturday for a look. Loved the new R1 which was a surprise as I wasn't blown away by the press photos. Liked the Ariel bikes and poking around some of the customs. Didn't think much of the Ducati scramblers. Honda passed me by and so did Kawasaki with the exception of that supercharged beast (which does look a little chavvy)

I was looking for a new helmet and boots after my Mallory incident but nothing stood out. The market bit was all a bit crammed and had a cheap feel to it so I didn't bother.

But the red one was up on the display so you couldn't get a feel for the bike or try it out with the standard seat which doesn't really help.

Had mine done too... given a proper clean and they adjusted the internals to make it more snug against the top of my head as it felt as though there was a gap in the top when I did shoulder checks. It's perfect now so well happy.

Not just youngsters. I've been looking for a little commuter for a while now and the Herald 250 Classic fitted the bil perfectly, and for not much more than £2750. Perfect.
At the other end of the scale I found the Aerial achingly desirable. Unfortunately, a quick chat with the chap on the stand revealed a £30k price tag for the spec I fancied and £24k for the basic model...

Did anyone have a look over the new naked Suzuki GSXS1000?

Thoughts, opinions, pics?

Thinking of changing my GSXR for one.
