people queue up waiting for the doors to open and literally RUN to the test ride zones to sign up. So unless you want to be there 2 hours before it opens you wont get to test ride anything.
Thought it would be like that, it's too far to go anyway. Scratched my v-twin itch yesterday on a Monster 821, so just need to ride a 600 IL4 to rule it out smile

I won a pair of tickets courtesy of Honda, Facebook competition I think!

The only day we can really make it is the 22nd, not ideal but so be it.

After me taking her out on the back the other week, Mrs Johnny has booked herself on the Get On taster session biggrin

Indeed, but what they won't mention is that at EICMA (I've never been to Intermot) its all trade with no chance of recouping your costs on purchases, it is a great show though ... but I always enjoy the NEC when I go, just view it as a day out with the boys ....
Not so this year at EICMA. There was a section with a number of retail companies selling gear and stuff. I picked up some new TCX boots at 50% UK price. Also, many of the traders will sell you hardware if you ask.

oh? Right, sold, I'm going.

Not decided what day yet, going to try to pick up some gear if there are as I've been led to be believe, deals to be had. Need to get myself fully kitted out, boots, hat, etc.
Should I book an afternoon off work to avoid the weekend rush? I want the sales people to give me lots of attention see smile

Anyone know if they have an area with used bikes for sale or perhaps some of the best bikes of the past years? Given that not everyone can afford a brand new bike, it would be useful for newbies (like myself) to peruse some of the older bikes.

Also, has anyone seen a timetable of the live action? I will be attending on Friday 28th.

I'm going on the 29th (or possibly 30th). Not entirely sure why I'm going but we'll see what happens.

No secondhand bikes for sale. Best you'll get is a classic display area, with historic race bikes and some old British thumpers.

The Honda Owners Club (possibly among others) will be there though, they may or may not be displaying but owners clubs might be a good way to find well looked after bikes or just to get tips of what to look for.
I planned to have a chat with them anyway.
Is it Owners Club or Owner's Club or Owners' Club?

Corrected your grammar, there, MTB, but from what I've seen, it's a visor off, check over, lubricate, clean out and freshen up. You may get a polish too, if there aren't too many peeps about.

Don't worry, if you're buying you'll get plenty of attention! Personally I believe week days are better because they are a bit quieter. Some say the best deals are to be had on the last day but I'm not so sure. In my experience most of the good stuff in common sizes will have been sold and often what's left is tat.

But I still believe it's the best place to shop because it's the only time you'll get so much choice under one roof. Spend a bit of time looking and checking prices then once you've decided what you want and from whom go for it. Most of the traders will take a sensible offer but they won't give it away!.

That was my thinking, Wed/Thursish is probably best. I don't think any of them are actually desperate to clear their stock so there's not that much pressure on them to sell on the last day, but at the same time as you say, there's a lot of competition.
I just hope there's a good phone signal or wifi so I can check prices online. Last time I was at the NEC I think we had wifi because we were on a stand, not sure if the public get it.. but it was useless anyway.

I'm hoping to go to this on Saturday or Sunday for two reasons:

1. an excuse to stretch the legs on the VFR 800 I bought a few weeks ago - 220 mile round trip from London
2. buy some Dainese textiles

I'm just concerned abut the weather though. If it's pissing down I'll be giving it a miss.

I'm going on the last Sunday, so far my shopping list includes.

New gloves
boots
a lid
rear sets for the track bike
a quickshifter maybe
various tins of lube and stuff
brake pads
some hoodies

probably more will come up. Do they take credit card? is there fees for using it? or do you get better for "cash".

My plan, being Scottish, is to write down the list of what I need, have the various brands and types with a price that I can get online then go hunting.

I was fking awesome at haggling in Turkey in the markets, I could actually get them to swear at me as I left or try to steal my change when giving it back to me. That's when you know your good. I might need to try it again although I hate haggling.

if its cheaper than the internet great, if not ill buy on the internet like I always do.

If the weather is good on the Monday I'm gonna go on the bike as there is also free storage for your bike gear. Also according to the website there are roadworks on route in so even more of a reason to go on bike

Shopping list is new winter gloves and maybe a quick shifter if the price is right!
