I've used a Dainese gilet thing for 15 years and it's been great. Wouldn't ride without it. Great back protection and has padding for ribs and collar bone. Only crashed in it once, but it did the job.

Dainese rarely do shows but the show itself will be full of their stuff so you'll have no problems comparing stuff.
Want to see their airbag jackets -- but that seems v hard to find
You should visit Bike Stop in Stevenage. They do the full range of D-Air stuff and will price match other dealers.

Like George29, I wonder about back protection, as like most, both my Leather jacket and my textiles have back protectors but I often think would they be better if they were attached to me instead of the jacket which moves, but as they say something is better than nothing!! I also wondered the same about the other armour in my jackets and trousers. I am going to MotorcycleLive on Thursday and I am contemplating something like the following, I think the D30 armour looks brilliant from the stuff I have seen, so I think that would be the way to go for me.

I've also just bought a Knox Aegis 7 plate (latest level 2) one from the NEC show and am very pleased with it. Since my friends and I bought quite a lot of stuff from them they threw in quite a few freebies (I had a long sleeve dry top thrown in). As some have mentioned proper fitting is very key.

Also bought the Knox Aegis at Motorcycle live - it was on the sale rack for £69.

Feel like a ninja turtle when I wear it

Can Anyone with a Knox Aegis give me help size wise? Im 6'3" so thinking the 9 plate, but the size guide isn't helping much as I measured nape to waist at 60cm. I know I should try on first, but can return if it doesn't fit.

I'm the same height and had to get the 9 plate.

Keep in mind the £99 one is 2014.. the cheaper ones are last years and there has been a re-design.

I spoke to the guy from forcefield to find out how many impacts they can take before you have to change them, he says unlimited.

I asked the shelf life of them and he then said 2 years. Wtf I thought, "yeah because new models come out and its always best to have the best protection".

So they don't have a shelf life? No? ok.

I paid £99 and got the latest 2014 model Aegis. I'm not sure the old design was CE Level 2, only level 1 I believe? I did get a £40 top thrown in for free though which sweetened the deal...

I've had my KNOX Aegis over 5yrs now ... but I think the main reason for people changing is the straps, etc. becoming loose / worn at least that's why I need to replace mine soon. I would also assume the softer padding eventually goes hard due to sweat, heat, etc... but two years is OTT.

I work on the rule 5yrs for all of my kit, but I ride most days.
