Triumph motorcycle, Jaguar car. Purest of the pure. That gentlemen is the end of the thread.

Pace with Grace.
In regards to Jaguar I used to really dislike their cars ,couldn't understand why anyone would pick one over a Mercedes or BMW and thought the only good thing they had done was give engines to Land Rover but I have to admit since the XF,new XJ and F Type they've really changed my opinion of them for the better, they're making some great cars at the moment.
Triumphs, the only two worth having are the 675 or the Sprint 1050 thing.

As for Jaguars, I love reminding the car park Jaguar snobs that all they are driving is a restyle ford mondeo
Taking you back to the title of the thread, we have new leader.hope your haulage rosters are more up to date then your engineering knowledge.

I think Jaguar fanboys are the most argumentative. They've even managed to be defensive of their peasant spec pseudo Jaguars in a forum exclusive aimed at bikers.

Also if we're talking of the X-type, most people don't care about the engineering differences, it's closer to a Mondeo than any Jaguar with the possible exception of god awful S-Type.

S Type has nothing to do with Mondeos.
You have clearly never driven a facelift 2002+ S Type. Fabulous cars and for the money the sell for now, an absolute steal.

I thought the bold made it clear I was talking about the X-type.

I expect they're cheap because they look like the half aborted offspring of an XJ and a Rover 75. Also quite off puttingly most are powered by Ford V6 or a Ford/Peugeot diesel engine. I'm not sure about the 4.2 but I know the earlier 4.0 supercharged is mated to a Mercedes Gearbox as well so it's an utter mongrel of a car.

I'd rather been seen getting out of a sheep.

We all know that since the E-type the only real Jags have names that start XJ.

Was it a DSC meet ? Lol
No lol, I was given a life ban waaaaaay before I got the Duke

But I do remember quite a prominent member of DSC called Roy who had one of the first 999 models when they came out. A mate on his Ducati turned up that was "different"(the model had different colour fairings) and Roy comes along in front of the owner/everyone and says "Nah, dont like that" and walks off.

I thought, if he's a "respected" member, then this club is the wrong club for me!
Ah, Papa Smurf, he is like that, just speaks his mind but one of the nicest fellows you will ever meet, was instrumental in keeping that region of the DSC alaive and arranged the Popham meets .... he now works at Snells smile

Definitely the classics. I bought an XJR x308 from my mates Dad some years ago, I sold it for the deposit on my first house. His dad and I still recall it as the best car we have ever owned.

He misses his E type though. Flash bd..

The reason I've never owned a Merc, Audi or BMW is I don't want to start believing I own the road

By and far the worst drivers in the UK

I had a Merc once, it broke less but was soleless. Bit like comparing a Honda to a Suzuki really.
