Murdoch demonstrated it to Richard Trevithick (who identified as Cornish, not english) and he had the idea of using it to replace horses for hauling loads on rails since the roads of the day couldn't take the weight.
Of course, that was before John McAdam (a Scotsman) devised the modern method of road construction.
Electric trains?
First built in 1837 by Robert Davidson, a Scotsman.
And I'll quite happily keep our Glens, valleys and lochs over your urban sprawl, inner-city decay and "Lahndahn Tahn."
As for whisky and shortbread, I suppose you would prefer a pint of flat warm bitter and some jellied eels...?

I travelled from NW Kent to Derby to the bike I really wanted a few months back. Sometimes you've got to bite the bullet and travel!
Christ, they're only around the corner from each other!I sometimes do Teesside to Halstead in Kent AND BACK in a day - and that includes 3 or 4 hours at the client's. 270 miles each way... and the further 'up north' you get from London, the lighter is the traffic

Scotland also invented chest-thumping nationalism. Never achieves anything of course.Murdoch demonstrated it to Richard Trevithick (who identified as Cornish, not english) and he had the idea of using it to replace horses for hauling loads on rails since the roads of the day couldn't take the weight.
