Manual Cam Chain Tensioners?
Discussion
Morning,
My CBR is making the familiar "My Honda CCT is fked" noise. This will be the 2nd one in less than 14,000 miles. This one lasted about 6-7,000 and they're about £70-£80 a pop.
Anyone use a manual tensioner? Are they as good as the original and is it easy to get the tension correct?
I don't want to compromise my engine in any way, but I'm worried one is going to let go and leave me stranded or worse.
Cheers,
PP

A mate is running one on my ancient Firestorm (amazingly still going).
They seem simple enough if you can get to them easily which I'm less sure on a CBR600. Some of it might be obscured by the frame.
Tighten it up until it slows the engine on tick over, then back it off a bit to give some slack to operate. If it starts to clatter, tighten it up. Check how much you've got to tighten it up to slow the engine every service.
