Missed this thread originally.

Only just got my race licence back, but fortunately have a few bikes offered to ride. Have an offer for my Winny & trailer, so not sure how things will pan out, but still waiting to hear funds are arriving.

Also managed quite a few commutes across the M62 to work & plenty of weekend homage, plus a free session on a trackday at Cadwell.

Going pretty well so far I'd say.

Oh, managed a trackday in the car at Spa too. Superb weather, superb track, logged a best of 2m 58s, great trip. Might have to do that again.

So, a third of the way through the year already. What has everyone achieved from their list of plans?

New track bike, new road bike, a bit of riding both and a few meets.
Bought new track bike, rode it, crashed it, sold it, bought new road bike, no meets yet

What I've done so far.

I was out Wednesday on a Motocross race track getting my arse kicked off an 11 year old on an 85cc Kawasaki.

Even giving me half a lap head start the little st still beat me before I finished a lap.

My road riding has suffered massively.

I went out today thinking, yas, the suns out, done the dukes pass, 60 mile round trip through pot holes and grit. By the end of it I just wanted to come home.

I was utterly freezing and miserable.

I used to enjoy road riding, but the roads around my way are shockingly bad, they have suffered years of terrible winters and short summers, mixed with the influx of tourists on huge buses churning up the roads that its getting to the stage where you just cant ride a bike on them anymore. Or you cant but not at any great speed.

Its patch repair after patch repair, I swear to God it looks like the surface of the moon. How any council worker can walk away from that and go, "good job that is". Its embarrassing, the roads need done from start to finish now.

I was behind two guys touring on the dukes pass, doing 30 mph for most of it, theres not a car in site you can get up to 3 figures easily and safely, did they move over and let me pass, did they fk. All I saw out today was touring bikes. Wtf is the point, id sooner take the car.

Not done the Dukes pass in years, don't intend to do it either. All my mates love it but I can't stand it. Blind, gravelly corners, cars on the wrong side of the road, not sports bike territory at all. If it was one way and I owned a supermoto I'd be tempted to give it another bash. It isn't and I don't though.

Got to agree on the general state of the roads though. Done the rest and be thankful to inverary the other day and it's now officially my favourite run. Lovely road out there, big open fast corners, great surface.

So I'm into month 5 of riding this year, happy it hasn't rained much in the last month despite it hitting 25deg a few weeks ago has been almost back to winter temps in the mornings again smile
Time to change bikes, trying to sell my blackbird. Looking at something yamaha or triumph with 3 cylinders at least 850cc and no fairing to replace it.

I usually have one of two rides out straight after a trackday. The dangerous one where I feel overly confident and ride way faster than I usually would which usually ends in me having a word with myself and calming down or the other where the roads just feel massively ste. I notice every little bump blind corners are taken at half speed and I generally think what's the point. It only usually takes me half an hour or so to get back to my normal riding though and it being enjoyable again

You'll need some photos up then!

On an unrelated note, left a deposit on a K2 GSX-R 600 track bike. All track fairings, no lights etc. And 3 spare sets of tyres.
Now I just need a bike trailer!
