Dear All,

Please see attached petition which hopefully will find favour on a forum such as this.

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/72458

Even if you don't participate in track days, for other motorsport events this seems appropriate.

This is utter rubbish, as I said last time it was brought up

I said:
Yet another stupidly worded petition which has no real hope of succeeding. Why do people bother writing this dross?

"There are innumerate cases of people knowingly moving within close proximity of motorsport venues, only to try to have their planning permission revoked or have them closed completely when they take exception to the noise. No, there aren't. All cases will be documented, you just think the word 'innumerate' makes your petition sound more important and valid when, in fact, it makes you look stupid because there's no such word. you mean innumerable.

It is extremely detrimental to the UK's motorsport heritage, when all the motorsport venues start disappearing. It WOULD be IF they DID start disappearing. This hasn't really happened yet, has it? Motorsport and the associated mechanical/engineering business is a key British export and second to none in the world of motorsports. How many of the aforementioned 'inunmmerate' cases have been about Motorsport engineering development? Oh, that's right, you've done no research so you can't say...millions, probably, eh?

As such, anyone who wishes to buy or rent a property within a determined distance of a motorsport venue should have to read and sign legislature that waives their right to complain about the noise from the nearby venue. Can members of the public actually sign "legislature"? Can anyone? A legislature is a decision-making organization, usually associated with national government, that has the power to enact, amend, and repeal laws. You mean "Legislation", perhaps. Can members of the public sign this? Oh, no! Not poor research and stupidity again?

If they do not wish to be bothered by something that was a fixture of the community long before they arrived, they should not move there in the first place. I actually agree with this, but it's kind of irrelevant given that the rest of the petition is basically gobbledegook.
Why anyone would sign such garbage is beyond me.

There IS such a word as "innumerate". It's what the OP may be if he thinks the complaints are innumerable.

I would love to see the residents of Kirkby Mallory armed with biros, rushing up to write their signature on the bodies of all 1441 MPs and Lords, who would presumably be waiting in an orderly queue. What a sight that would be.

You know that the residents of Kirkby Mallory were trying to keep, the place open, just asking the owners to stop letting cars race there through the night amd bikes having 200dB exhausts and innumerate (sic) other infringements of their licence.

My point was re: signing the legislature.

Fair enough, just wanted to clarify the residents vs Mallory situation.

It is badly worded, that's clear even to a GCSE div like me but the sentiment is clear. If it ever makes it to a parliamentary debate (which I doubt, sadly) I suspect the debaters will understand what is meant. Unless PH has some grammar nazis in parliament

I signed it. I just hope that it is enforced in the current form.

I look forward to seeing houses values plummet in the catchment area described destroying peoples finances, and noise levels which exceed safe levels for hearing, at unreasonable hours, with no right to complain because you had the rotten luck to own property when it was brought into law. All to save a track which was run by incompetent aholes, who's utter lack of financial acumen was only exceeded by their disrespect for the agreements they signed.

Another brilliant petition brought to us by Joe Public proving once again the power of critical thinking in this country is approaching zero.

If it's debated I reckon it would go like this;

"Does the government have a legal right to destroy the lives of those living near racetracks in order to prop up an extremely small number of failed businesses?

"No. The crown court has said we cannot do so under British law. They have to adhere to laws currently in place."

"Can we force them to sign a waiver?"

"No, there's no such as a forced waiver you idiot by definition they are voluntary".

"Oh. That was a good discussion".

Which was all orchestrated by the Mallory Park owner to oust the incumbent lease-holders anyway... er, apparently.

I'm fully aware my rant will be seen as such. It just irritates me intensely that people post these wastes of time on the petitions websites then others distribute them and expect to be taken the slightest bit seriously. They're effectively asking parliament to waste time on something they themselves don't care about enough even to do the most basic research and they're happy to display their ignorance to the world in the way they pitch the petitions.

I also appreciate the irony of my saying that one of my least favourite aspects of social media and the internet in general is that everyone thinks their opinion is valid and should be expressed. Very few people understand the usefulness of filters!

Of course people will forward it on. Have you seen the frequency with which that idiotic facebook privacy post spread? Berne convention? Yes, that's right, a 120+ year old convention has specifically included privacy on the internet in it. Ditto the Rome Statute, you know, the one for trying war criminals.

The world is crumbling and idiots are gaining the upperhand, due to their ever increasing number. Actually should that be there ever increasing numerablecy?

But everyone's opinion is valid and should be expressed if they wish. It's called free speech and long may it last.

It's the one's that listen and respond to such tripe that have the issue! wink

I disagree. Many peoples' opinions are totally invalid, because they are stupid and/or ill-informed.
