Oulton 27th / 28th Feb
Discussion
Personally I had a good day. Felt like I was pushing too hard in the morning. Decided to forget about thinking too much about how I can go faster and just do what I'm comfortable with.
Afternoon was awesome, felt much more comfortable. Got my knees down for the first time which I'm well happy with even though it doesn't matter.
Bring on tomorrow!

What an eventful day! I believe Oulton have now made the decision to permanently close garages 19 and 20, it’s just not economical to keep them open with the number of bikes that needed to be recovered there.
I have to take some responsibility for this I suppose. In an effort to reduce the number of bikes I own, I wanted to see if my R6 could double up as a motocross bike, so I took it for a quick off road test at Island bend. Turns out it’s not very well suited to it, but at least I know now.
I did at least get a video of it. It starts with Simon (Loon) passing me on the warm up lap, and ends shortly after when I went to turn in to Island and found someone inside of me (giggity), overreacted slightly, and went grass tracking. Fortunately I was a gear too high through Cascades, so I wasn’t going quite as quickly as I should have been. On the video you can just about see 58 mph on the speedo a moment before the bike finally goes down, so I must have managed to scrub off a decent bit of speed through the mud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XhnzYSJRxM&fe...
I was fine, and I spent the journey to the medical centre mourning my paintjob, which I’d spent all winter on, and finished just last weekend. However when I got back to the garage, I found the damage wasn’t half as bad as I’d expected, which put me in a much better mood. Just look at that awkward smile! I think I’ve got a similar photo from when I was about three, minus the leathers - I guess getting muddy is always fun.
An hour or so of pulling mud out and washing the bike down left it looking a lot more respectable, and ready to go out again. I bottled it however, deciding that after walking away from a 100mph crash and even having the bike in one piece, I’d probably used up my luck for the day.
It was great to meet everyone today, I really enjoyed it, and hopefully we can all get out again soon.

Right, listen up. No one learns anything by being upside down in the dirt. (I know this all too well)
People need to keep to keep a cool head and remember that it is still February, the track and your tyres will not get up to temperature if it is wet/damp. There is a good reason why TD's are cheap at this time of year and why the BSB season isn't on yet.
Take tomorrow as a learning day and take your time then go back when its warm and you can give it the billy big bks until your heart is content.
Have a good - safe day tomorrow everyone.

This is one of my videos, probably my best for the day.

Really happy because I've managed to knock another couple of seconds off my best lap time but feel much more comfortable for it as well.

Pretty well what I spent the day saying. One of the lads who was going to be racing against us at a few of the Hottrax rounds won't be now, as managed to destroy his right ankle, so that's his season over before it even begins. Here's the lowdown on Day 1
Whilst it was glorious blue skies and nice and dry in the main, the NW had some torrential downpours over the past few days, so there was always a chance of a hangover or two from that. The hangover was new tarmac at Cascades that was so dark nobody had a clue whether it was wet or dry, a damp and slippy Island and a patch of ice about 10 feet long and 6 feet wide right on the line for the exit of Shell. We think it was ice, it could've been white Rock salt to melt the ice, but let's say nobody was feeling brave enough in any group to test it out.
The track was cold, cold, cold and this meant umpteen red flags throughout the day in all groups, which really disrupted things. Matt (Smallboy) asked me to take someone out in Novices for a couple of laps in session 3 as there were only two instructors amd they were both out. So I dutifully did two unbelievably slow siting laps for Yazza's mate and then pulled in for a red flag. He went out again and 1 lap later was the cause of another red flag as his bike went a bit mental, spat him off and promptly shed every fluid it had inside it all over the track on the entrance to Old Halll before exploding in a lovely fireball.
That pretty well set the tone for every other group to attempt suicide at every opportunity. One or two more on here had spills, but I'll let them tell that story. Suffice to say the rules are if you fall off on track then you get dry bummed in the van. Well I must be good looking the way people were throwing themselves into the scenery, just to spend some time with me in the van
Others crashed and burned from other groups too. So much so, that I heard the best ever tannoy announcement asking people to stop crashing "as the queue was out of the door at the medical centre".
I blew away a few cobwebs and nice to meet some new faces. Despite the casualties I hope we get to do it again.

Sounds like a rerun of DeathRace
Hope everyone is ok. Enjoy today and take it easy.

Another good video.. Proper smooth too. fk I look awkward on the Mille.
Good video Tom!I don't think your bike likes you very much Ryan! Hopefully it behaves today though!
I had a great day to for what it's worth, learnt loads and thoroughly enjoyed my first time out on a bike for a long time plus I think there needs to be a loud shout out for the organisers who kept it running smoothly even thought they ran out of red flags.

Planned to pop down this morning but it's wet and raining. Got wet enough this week on the bike so I can't be arsed. Have a good one gents!

Well that was an interesting day, big thanks to CunnyDK or Paul for letting me share his R1 after something broke on my bike, good to see you all again and looking forward to Croft in April, might have a few things to sort before then

I do hope tomorrow isn't as eventful, fking hell.
Next time I'm saying nowt!I had another good day, got on and just felt confident. After it dried out I felt quicker again but decided I was pushing too much after scraping the Footpeg as well as my knee and toe slider.
Took it easier after that and just messed about a bit then did one session after dinner and packed up.
Good weekend, made lots of progress and kept it upright!

I'm old. It's now official I was too tired after 1.5 days to do anymore. I need this Achilles to fix so I can exercise, lose about 3 stone which will only come off with exercise. I've killed my wrists too for the first time ever as I can't push my weight through my right leg cause of this Achilles.
