Don't forget you can get a HM lite for £239 delivered with shift rod now ...

I'm waiting on the outcome of the Healtech QSE...
yes this is HM one I was going to go for, but I guess with this one the 'kill time' is pre set but you do have 3 settings? and it is set across the rev range. But the Healtec you can fully adjust but like others say, its not been proven yet as to how good it is.

I'm in no rush to will hold on for a bit.

I never understood the need for these, until I got one. My God what fun they are. You've got me looking at HM ones for the track bike now.

same here - I had a quick blast on an S1000r and it was so much fun.

My mate also has one on his street triple R and loves it.

Once you get one it can be changed between bikes as all you need to change is the loom.

I can't do anything electrical. I mean seriously there's two things in life i have an irrational fear of and that's electrics and Muslims. I keep hearing that they can kill you and I'm pretty ignorant. So I stay well clear of them both.

This is of course a joke so please don't be offended.
I'm not this narrow minded and ignorant really. Obviously I know it's not volts that will kill you it's current.

Going a wee bit O/T
What's the deal with the dynojet quick shifters. Some people say they aren't very good but won't give a reason

I believe they work by cutting the fuel rather than the ignition like the others do.

It puts more stress on the gearbox doing it via the fuel cut method.

That and they're more of a micro switch not a strain gauge so only work in one direction/pattern and can wear out

As has already been said, fuel kill, which is about as harsh on your gearbox as it comes.

And they wear out very fast to.

As above, dynojet units are pretty unreliable, seen many fail quite quickly, mine included
As for fuel cut, there's problem is there's always fuel left in the inlet tract, so cutting the injectors for 50ms only causes a momentary lean condition or misfire. This means the gearbox is still under partial load when you change gear. Not something the dogs like.
An ignition cut QS however by removing the spark totally interrupts the combustion process so all power or load is removed from the gearbox when you shift. With correct settings it's no different to a manual throttle closed, clutch in gear change, only much quicker

A QS will probably be my next purchase for my Blade RR8.

What unit would you knowledgeable guys recommend for casual road use. I was looking at the HM Super Lite. Do I need anything fancier?

Like you I was going to go for the same and for £240 is still a lot of money but cheaper than the other HM models - I think with the lite version there are 3 pre sets for cut time but should suffice for road. I would wait to see how this Healtech bears up and if its not up to it go for the HM unit as its proven.

What I like about the healtec is that you can adjust the cut time based on the revs so that it would work well say around 5k gear changes and also around 10K, I am not sure if this can be done with the HM lite unit and the HM website doesn't really provide a lot of info

We have a HM one fitted to the race spec CBR600. The rider loves it and we have no issues with it.

Which model?

I don't think anyone has a problem with how the HM shifters work but at over £500 for the top end shifters its a lot of money.

The HM Superlite at £240 is the competition for the Healtech one being discussed.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

Chap on here with it fitted on a KTM RC8 didn't seem to rate it.

Is it the same as the HM plus which can only have one kill setting?

The best ones allow various settings at all rpms

Better still some calculate the right setting depending on the revs in real time like the cordona pq8 I've just bought. Good thing about these too is that they can be fitted to any bike, just remove it when you sell up. It's about £100 more than a HM lite but you get what you pay for and because it's a fully stand alone unit that can fit anything it's a better investment. That's how I've justified it to myself anyway biggrin
