I'd like to send my SMR 950 in for some TLC, but running out of places to look at in or around London (pref SW-ish).

1. Carb clean
2. Plug Change
3. Valve Clearances

Can anyone recommend anyone? I've read about Paul (ex Bracken) and some dude from Motard Engineering Ltd in Battersea, but cant seem to find their businesses or if they still going.

Hyside get the work on my ADVR 1190, but its new and simple. The old carb'ed gal needs a fine touch.

The only ones I know off are:

http://www.inmoto.com/

http://www.phmotorcycles.co.uk/

I use P & H and have found them to be fine, it takes me 30 mins to get there from SW19, I then get a train into work from Gatwick. In Moto would be nearer but I bought the bike from P & h.

Fabrice, from Motard Engineering, is now based in a little workshop in Granville Road, Southfields. I got him to do some work on my old 640 Duke II and he did a cracking job. Such a nice bloke to deal with.

PM me for his mobile number

Just dropped the SMR at Fabrice. He really is my kinda mechanic - seems proper interested and not one of these guys tired of doing it.

Will let you guys know how it turns out, but I think I'm going to be very happy. smile

P&H aren't bad, they did a fairly good job when they used to maintain my 950SM. I found them quite expensive though, although when a service took longer than expected they gave me an RC8 overnight free of charge. What do you think of Hyside? I bought a bike off them and I wouldn't do business with them ever again.

I bought my 1190 ADV-R from them, and they have been pretty good for all that, along with the 1000 mile/pre tour service. Andy and whats his name have treated me well, although there is a small issue I'm not sure is just the bike, or they not too interested in solving (the chain guard makes a racket on the chain after a decent ride, and they claim its just the chain getting dry, but if so this bike is weird, never had one that needed oiling ever 200-300 miles).

I wouldn't want a dealer service on all the bits and bobs of an a "older" carb fed bike. I think the costs would sting a little too much, and it may just be me, but I want a guy that doesnt seem he wants to make space for the next appointment as fast as possible.
