R1200GS / KTM Adventure off the tarmac
Discussion
Just putting it out there, wondering if anybody wants, or would to like to share any routes suitable for a beginner on a R1200 GS on decent [road] tyres (not TKC80's) in and around the Hampshire/Surrey area.
Bit of background: Recently swapped my Daytona 675 for a GS, just fancy covering a few miles off the beaten track with like-minded people but nothing too serious (cant afford the repairs/protective kit!).
Also, a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated!

If you find some I'll join you for a bimble, also have a 1200GS (adventure 90th E). I know loads of Greenlanes but not confident enough to go out alone as I've never been off road.
I'm near Woking BTW
Look here for BOAT lanes : http://www.bywaymap.com/?gclid=CLear_uQ7cECFS3HtAo...

Riding an SV650 means I don't have a particularly potent off road machine but do engine taking her done a dirt track. Preferably when it's dry as the front end is a more predictable and fun to get the rear spinning up a bit! I'm also Surrey/Hampshire and have done the green lane by Mytchett on the previously posted map.
I do really need something that's more at home on dirt as I really enjoy it but don't want to push too much and break the bike.
Here's a wimpy video of me doing it down a boggy road where the front wheel started sliding wherever it fancied! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nx8mlE_0hg

Hi
I'm also in the Woking area.
Used to have a R1200GS Adventure that I took off road quite a bit.
I've got rid of it now but I've still got a G450X for playing in the mud.
There is a nice simple one off of the Mychett Place Road pretty much a straight line for about 3/4 of a mile mostly light gravel/mud and plenty of lumps and bumps but there are some reasonable smooth lines through it. I last played on it after some rain with the supermoto tyres on the 450 and it was fine so you should be ok on the GS with road tyres.
Sleepwalk Lane and Beggars Lane near Effingham are both fairly simple lanes that would fit too.
If you are playing on a Sunday put a thread up on here and I'll try and come along to play too.
It's worth getting some OS maps as all of the byways are marked on there but be aware some get closed or restricted but there should be signage at the start of the byway if that's the case.

You could have a go at this:

or just post up on one of the busier parts of that forum - you'll find plenty of advice.
I have Conti Trail Attacks on my GS which are rubbish on anything but tarmac, it has to be said.

I only know the Surrey lanes around Dorking but it looks like that link shows byways that have been TRO'd for years so I would advise caution if you are trying to follow some of them.I'm near Woking BTW

Here is more accurate and the videos give an idea of potential conditions http://www.qwerf.com/greenlaning/?county=surrey , although for obvious reasons if you read the About page unfortunately it is not being updated anymore either so you still need to keep a look out for the correct signage.
