Where are all you bikers ?

Went out today from Chorley Lancs upto Yorkshire, stopped at Hawes for a brew, a popular biker stop, near the wallace and gromit cheese factory.

Only one other bike, a GS BMW as i was leaving, over the tops past white scar caves snow every where, Nice

through ribbledhead viaduct and back home.

Covered about 130 miles, cold but nice to be out, must powerwash the salt off the VFR tomorrow

only saw 4 bikes all day, summer it would be hundreds

I live a only few miles south of you and there's not a chance that I'll be riding in this weather. Cold tyres, road salt, dark until late morning and dark at 5pm, wet roads, cold weather all combine to make it anything but fun. Plus I had a big hangover.

Roll on summer and I'll be out again.

I was out in the car today, nice and sunny but cold outside. The roads were wet, covered in winter mulch crap left over from autumn, and salted to fk. Any bit of road was that wasn't wet was bleached white with the salt that North Tyneside council blast about with zeal. The thought of taking the bike out, being cold, riding on cold tyres, having to wash it and my leathers as soon as I got home has no appeal, I'd rather st in my hands and clap.

As a rule of thumb, I always think if you're in conditions where you'd need to use the windscreen washers on your car, being on a bike would be no fun. YMMV.

Salt salt salt salt salt.

I've got a brand new MV and a 15 year old mint R1. They're not going out in salt. It would make me weep.

The trouble is that it's all very well washing the bike as soon as you get home, but it's going to have got into places where you're simply not going to be able to get at without half dismantling the bike, removing panels etc frown

Exactly mate even with ACF50 etc your not going to protect or clean it all off afterwards.

Last year I got out a few times over winter for some short runs when it was nice but I've not been out at all this time.
