As the title states, myself and my girlfriend are wanting to attend the TT this year.
Having never been before we're in need of as much info as possible. Best places to stay, view points, ferries etc! B&B or Hotel is our best bet as after her if camping was an option, i received a look of utter disgust!
Are we better goin on the bike or as 'foot passengers'?
As much info would be much appreciated......we're wanting it all sorted asap so we can start to really look forward to it!!

An awful lot of people sort out their return to the TT a year in advance so most ferry places have probably been booked although get onto the steam packet website and see if any space left when you want to go. I received and paid my invoice just before Christmas I think but for those that have paid a deposit they need to have received and paid their balance by 14th feb.... I think!!!! If you can't get space now ring up steam packet about the 14th and try and get a place that has either been cancelled or not paid balance. You should get a place as bike and rider rather than foot passenger.

Try and get bike onto the ferry as if you are foot passengers then you will have to fork out on taxis to get to any good viewing spots with exception of bray hill.

Again it may be difficult to find accommodation this late but go onto the TT forum and there are people still advertising for accommodation.

Hope you get it sorted.

Forgot to add that you will not be able to be too picky with regards to best places to stay as it's late sorting. If you find home stay or B&B then snap it up. Y2 blade who is on here often goes to TT so hopefully he will be along with more info for you.

No problem farky.

This will be my 5th TT. I have done 3 practice weeks and 1 race week. I may get shot down by others but I enjoy practice week more. This is because there is practice every night from about 6pm till about 9pm dependant on weather and you can enjoy riding your bike around the island with enough other bikes to have good atmosphere but not the madness of the roads during race week. This is just my opinion but it goes bit mad for me race week. During race week there is a race every other day but again dependant on weather they may have a race day after another.

This year I'm doing practice week again from about the 30th May until 6th June when I leave the island although the 6th is first race so I get to watch one. It may help with your finding accommodation and booking ferry to do practice week as well. Certainly towards the end of practice week and most of practice week the racers are going just as fast so you will still see the madness of the event.

Ferry is £460 ish for two people and a car.

I think it's about £160 for a bike? I'm sure someone will correct me on that.

Homestay costs about £25 PPPN.

I camp in Laxey for two weeks at £10 a night.

Hi, I've booked up this year's trip for me and a friend who are both riding over, it'll be our first TT.

I only managed to score practice week, which was disappointing at first, but what the nurse46 has said is quite reassuring!

We're crossing from Heysham at 2:15am on Saturday 30th May, coming back at 8pm on Saturday 6th June. So we should get the full week of practice / quali and see the first Superbike race on the Saturday.

Managed to get a cracking self-contained apartment for the week in the centre of Douglas for £30pnpp.

Need to be absolutely on point next time though and make sure we get race week, it's flipping manic trying to get tickets though.

Kinda nervous about taking my 675R over, but hopefully being the quieter week it should be a bit calmer and all will go well, I'm so excited biggrin

Practise week is worse for knobs on the road planting themselves into the beautiful flora and fauna in my experience

Well done smithyithy getting good deal with accommodation. Don't worry about taking your bike over, it will be a fantastic experience that first ride around the course and the mountain. Hopefully now we just get the weather so we get to see practise each evening. Y2 blade is right you get some idiots on the road but it's few and far between and happens both weeks.

Mate informed me that his ferry was confirmed at £240 for bike and rider last weekend...
Belfast - IOM
Expensive IMHO considering you could get to the continent for round £100

there will be a steam packet resale sometime in Feb i believe (which is when they ask all the deposit payers to pay the full amount, which invariably some don't), and there are multiple places you can exchange ferry tickets with people who can't attend too (so I'm told), so not all doom and gloom.

Accommodation is anyone's guess though - can you get an awning to fit the side of your bike? smile

Hi,

I'm going to the TT this year (taking my Mum for her 60th!). If you're still looking for somewhere to stay then there is an apartment which sleeps 4 people available for the nights of the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th.

£1,100 is the price. I have taken it for a week but we're only using it for three nights.

The place is called The Town House.

Let me know if you're interested

I wonder if that is because the roads are open every day during practice week? I say 'open', the mountain does tend to spend most of the time closed which involves a detour from Ramsey. Only 85 days to go and official launch night a week on Tuesday!!

The end of feb is when people who have booked needed to pay the ir balances. I phoned on Monday and gave them my details and the crossings I wanted and got alll 5 out and back on the requested days. then found a house within 2 hours which is in Douglas.

Dont forget the southern races on the sat and Sunday following the senior. Very spectacular indeed.
