Jenny Tinmouth to become factory Honda BSB rider

Its not about me. Compared to the rest of the grid, yes
Oh OK, so the fact she was an a much slower and far less trick bike doesn't matter. Also, pretty well everyone else bar Kiyo, Byrne, Brookes and arguably Bridewell and Ellison were also undeserving of their rides too. yonex said:
The comments on here are laughable, 99% of you wouldn't see which way she went, same with Sam and also Catherine. Suggest you all put a skirt on and show just how fast you really are, preferably on a test day with some other BSB riders,I mean you will almost certainly be within a few tenths of the top 15.
Good luck Jenny, well deserved girl. It's a long way from that 125 KRP ride eh
This is all getting blown well off the mark. Nobody has questioned her outright speed and all of us are well aware that she would blow us out of the water without trying. Good luck Jenny, well deserved girl. It's a long way from that 125 KRP ride eh
All people have been saying, other than MTB being an adonis and women not being funny, is that there is a very strong grid in this years BSB and a top fifteen finish would be one hell of an achievement.
I wish her well and genuinely hope she does better than I predict.

I made my comments in jest. It seems that people took them rather personally and I'd like to apologise for that. I was wrong with what i stated and I'm sorry if I offended anyone. Id like to take this chance to say sorry for my actions. I never thought it would provoke such a reaction. It was foolish and immature of myself. We all of course know dogs can look up

Can they walk sideways though, that's the real question on everyone's lips!LoonR1 said:
She was doing 1:39.7 in April, although I think that was wet, or a drying track. My best is a 1:52 there, so miles off her. You'll get into the low 1:40s easy.
Don't get me wrong, anything under 1:40 is properly rapid at Oulton. The problem is though, she's just missing that final 1%. There are superstock lads going quicker than her, with less power, less fancy bits bolted to the bike, and road legal tyres instead of slicks. George29 said:

There were. She has been on low spec (for the class) bikes, built and run on a budget. As far as we can see, fack-all in the way of setup expertise, hence the amazing performance when someone gave her a hand (i forget who, and when)
See how she goes this year. Judging from her IOM performances, where ultimate pace is more down to rider than machine, I suspect it will be a good year for her. I really hope it will anyway.

What do you mean were? There will be this season too. I would bet Seeley and Jenkinson will be faster than her on a lower class of bikes. She has been on low spec (for the class) bikes, built and run on a budget. Also I'm fairly sure she had a pretty top spec motor in her bike.. Plus fancy swingarm etc. Even if it was low spec for a super bike, it's higher spec than a stock 1000. She should be putting in faster times.
And whilst her TT performances are impressive, they are still 12mph down from the top lads. There were people in the Manx who put a similar lap time in on a 600 to put it into perspective.

Honda wanted tinmouth and presumably they were prepared to pay for her, they didn't want any of the quick super stockers.

Yes but its only because she's a woman that she got it. Through riding ability there are more deserving people is the point I was making Honda wanted tinmouth and presumably they were prepared to pay for her, they didn't want any of the quick super stockers.

That's not true though. She's got a third bike. That ride wouldn't be there for anyone else. Also is she really 36 years old? That quite old for a racer with no career wins as such, and then promoted to Factory ride.
I do wish her luck though, I just think the other "Aliens" in the grid will walk away on lesser/equal machinery to her Factory bike.

Bridewell, why does he deserve a factory BMW ride?
Westmorland why is he getting a top ZX10R ride?
We could go through a lot of the paddock and ask the same questions.
This third bike wouldn't exost if they hadn't decided to bring her in, so Honda a running a three bike team. If they didn't want a woman rider, then they would be running a two man team. That's it. No ride "stolen" and so on. Anyway, a few of the riders I've spoken to think that some other egos will be bruised this year by her.

The Honda is not th e best bike out there, it's an old bike. There's a new R1 putting out a claimed 230bhp out of the crate, the ZX10 has been the bike for the past few years and there's a new S1000RR with some serious factory backing. I still don't get why people are so arsey about this. So what if she got a ride for being a woman. Shakey got his, because he's a cockney geezer and very PR friendly. Kiyo got all his (excluding his current ride) because he's a Honda protege, Waters because he's a Suzuki contracted rider and so on.

I agree Loon that no bike has been "Stolen" from any rider, but as I said her age and track record is not great.Bridewell, why does he deserve a factory BMW ride?

The grid does have quite a few "Aliens" and wouldn't I class her as "Alien"?
It would be nice to see a "Lady" bringing it to the guys, I just don't think it will be her, maybe a future female rider. I do respect her as a "trail blazer" for future female racer's and that is no bad thing.
It doesn't really have "aliens" if we're honest. That's reserved for the MotoGP guys at the head of that pack. A lot of these would struggle to hold their own in WSB, let alone MotoGP. Look at byrne's or Kiyo's track records in both those series compared to their shared 7 titles in BSB.
She's never had top equipment and I think she deserves the ride for the amount of effort she's put in to staying and competing in a male dominated environment. Brits are normally good at cheering for the underdog, we should be supporting her as she's potentially blazing a trial for the female teenage riders just starting out who could one day really shake things up.
I'm going to be cheering her on, despite her being quite close to being a Scouser!
