For those of you that haven't got bored of Guy Martin.....of which I'm included, channel 4, 9pm Sunday the first of a two part series where he travels around India. Riding a royal Enfield by looks of it for some of it.

Bit more info:

I imagine his bartering attempt was like that scene in Life of Brian.

Cant help the feeling that he's a bit of a performing dog for Ch4 at the minute...
i.e. Turn the cameras on and keep rolling until he says something quaint!

Also, the Narrator on the Speed series! Pathetic...

Wish he'd do a self filmed trip (long way round style)

If I was a lorry mechanic with no discernible talent except for being not quite good enough to win a TT, and say strange things. I'd take whatever was thrown at me.

Ouch! But it does seem quite true. I've said to my wife (who dosnt understand a single word he says and can't even lip-read him...she's deaf, by the way) a few times his biggest thing is going to end up being "the almost-man", with regards to always being possibly capable of a TT victory, but never achieving one

I quite liked the programme Guy Martin did on the Spitefire, it was very interesting

"Almost man" was actually the tactful phrase I was struggling to recall...

I'd wager that anyone who can regularly get onto the podium, although perhaps not the top step, at the TT has more "talent" than 99.9999% of the bike riding population.

Do Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith et al also lack any discernible talent by your rationale?

Or do not gel with his personality?

At last, somebody posts what I think too. Maybe because of the TV deals being thrown at him took the want to win on the TT out of him. We will never know !!

What about Kelly Brook on 'The Big Breakfast'? She had talent.

Lack of talent?

Multiple Gold Cup winner

Multiple Southern 100 solo champion

Multiple Ulster GP winner

Countless other road race victorys.

Only man to get near MD at tt 2014, on a stbox Suzuki with 190bhp.

It could well be that his crash on the WC blade in the senior knocked some TT balls out of him BUT he certainly hasn't slowed on any other road races, come to think of it he also had a podium in World Endurance at Le Man if I remember right?

You are right we will never know but looking at his results last year he was trying as hard as ever. 2nd to MD on what in most people's opinion is an inferior bike doesn't strike me as a result possible from someone is not trying as hard as he can

Just seems odd to me he comes second and people question his commitment,Rossi "only" comes 2nd to marquez and people fawn over his commitment/desire to win

exactly ...how many armchair riding experts do we have on here that are faster ? .....if I was 75% as quick as Guy Martin is on the roads I would be well chuffed smile

Witty but a bit harsh. I think many on here would give up one of their testicles to ride well enough "to almost win a TT". (Given the size of the balls you need to be a road racer I expect you could survive comfortably with just the one)
