So, today on my first ride of the year, It's broke down for the first time on a bike.

So In November I bought a 2007 GSXR 1000, rode it home and forgot about it until today, I got a grand total of 12 miles...

Slowing down from motorway speeds for a round about the bike sounded sick, Lauren cut out, so I coasted to a safe position and parked up..

The bike restarted no problem, but the idle was over the place, and was missing when revved. I decided not to ride it and had it recovered by the AA.

I decided to start with the obvious and bought a set of plugs for it, upon changing them I found the ones in there loose, as in not seated properly and requiring no effort at all to unwind with my fingers, this can't be good obviously, but could it be a cause of the misfire/poor running?

I'm going to guess yes but I'm not sure how loose we're talking.

Have you torqued some new ones in and fired her up?

Likely as it'll reduce your compression.
Worth changing them out anyway and make sure they're all righty tighty

Yeah, I've replaced them with a new set and torqued to correct spec.

As for how tight the originals were...imagine you wound in a plug until it seated, by hand, then backed it off a quarter of a turn you would be about right

Yeah she starts up and ticks over from cold fine, but tomorrow I'll let it run up to temp then take it for a run and get it under load to see what happens.

Who's Lauren? If you've genuinely given your bike a name, then God help you. Does the kettle tell you to kill prostitutes?

That's OK then. My bedside lamp tells me to do it though.

This thread... Between Lauren and the mince I have no idea if the bike is running again or not.

Okay, so it's back together this morning.

I ran it up to temperature and let the cooling fan cycle in and out 5 or 6 times.

Idles fine at approx 1100 rpm and fluctuates occasionally by 50 rpm or so, but is a thousand times better than it was on the old plugs.

Also, it's worth mentionong that the bike is running an Arrow twin pipe system with the baffles out and the Cat removed, standard headers. There is a receipt in the service history to say that the bike has had the standard ECU remapped for this set up.

The issue, unless it's me being paranoid, is that if I hold the throttle at a steady RPM, let's say 5K, the bike hunts and the revs fluctuate by 150-200 RPM, what do you think, from what I'm describing do you think there is an issue I need to investigate further?
