Doesn't the 20v engine in the FZR have a bit of a reputation for using lots of oil?

that's a really lovely, tidy example. I don't think they will be a future classic, but I have a real soft spot for these. I hadn't seen many in your colour scheme but it looks really smart, I'd love to scratch the itch with one of these, do you mind telling me how much you paid? I've seen loads for under a grand but they are all sheds.

I'd love to see more photos as well.

Congratulations and enjoy.

5K miles and it was spotless, less bits you would expect on a 24 year old bike (prob original chain and front tyre!). Frame was perfect and paintwork had one small 2mm mark, will prob T-Cut out (hahahaha).

I'll let Doomster PM you if he wishes too, but on something like this you have to buy on condition. I kid you not, this was like going back to 1994-ish and buying a very clean example!

Thank you matey .
The bike is very very clean . I Agree it will never be valuable but to me that Just adds to it . Was a very important bike to me growing up and I believe will make a great road bike .
The bike was advertised for 3500 pounds , I wanted to pay 3. The seller ( who was an absolute star of a gentleman ) wanted 3200 so we met in the middle at 3100. I'm sure I could have got her at 3000 but he was such a nice bloke I used the old "a good deal is one where neither party is 100 per cent happy with the figure " routine and did the deal at 3100. If I'm honest if pressed I would have paid the full asking price . However we ended up giving him 400 pounds less due to an accident and have since sent the rest by PayPal. The seller , again , was a really nice bloke . Ill put up picks soon as I get her back , don't worry about that . I'll get some with her classic Yamaha sisters too .

Wow...5,000 miles eh. Lovely.

I dont know about them being a future classic, they are already a classic, id ask around and see if you can get it on a classic policy with an agreed value.

Your bike is old enough to qualify ...with CN at least. If you dont ask for classic insurance, you wont be offered it so be sure to ask.

I decided that I should ensure that no trends were started Lav, hence my starbucks card coughed. Basically free because my SB card comes up on the till as an Unobtaintium one, rather than gold!

;-)

We have already discussed shoehorning a GSXR engine in there, but Doomster's spare ones are earmarked for the OW01s. The vender continued to be pleasant even after I slipped a quick "It is very nice... But it is no GSXR" into the conversation.

Fair one, but like you say when you have an unobtainiam level Starbucks card!
So just need to get the gixxer on the road now!!! Especially if the doomster doesn't need an engine there's no excuses not to get yours on the road

That explains the freshness if it's only done 5 k. Id love to see some more photos when you get it back.

I spent a wee while looking at these again. As usual it was just sheds around the thousand quid mark.

I've seen alot of people comparing them with the blades of the same time. One thing is for sure. Blades are ten a penny. I can't remember the last time I seen one of these in the flesh.

They've aged really well

Fling on some new rubber and a suspension refresh and you gave yourself a cracking bike.

End of March Lav, we just didn't say which March!

The vender fitted a brand new Pirelli Corsa on the back to get it through the MOT last Sep, still has the red and blue lines on it. The front will get a matching one (we think it looked good for poss 24 years old), service and a full going over on the suspension I think.

Sorry it's the only language the colonel knows, besides if it makes him get it back on the road
