MSV have taken over Donington - http://www.bikesportnews.com/news/news-detail/palm...
Me and Aky booked Donington on Monday for April 3rd and were surprised it was a MSV dayFitted all the new paintwork onto my bike this week.
Tank was a real faff as the one I got (2nd hand) appears to have had some kind of repair done to one of the front mountings and the other front mounting threads are bent at an angle. I guess that's why it was £250 rather than the normal 4-500 for a 2nd hand tank. Anyway, managed to sort the threads out and get it pressure tested to make sure it wasn't leaking, and all seems good.
New CRC fairings, were as always, a flipping pain in the arse to fit even though my previous fairings were CRC, they fit very differently and needed a good amount of the normal dremmel action to get them on properly and not touching bits of exhaust etc.
I'm really happy with how it's come out, so I took some photo's of it looking pristine as it's likely to not last that way for long and end up sliding down the tarmac

When the guy said he could do it for £300 all in for all fairings, tank and front hugger, I was expecting it to be a really shoddy job, which is kinda all a race/track bike needs. But when I picked it up, I was super impressed. The quality of the lines and the paint itself is better than I've seen on some big money custom paint jobs.
He's a local lad to me in Swindon called Josh Day. If any of you follow Thundersport Elite, he does pretty well in that too as he's pretty handy on a bike (1:31's at Donington, for example)
If anyone wants his contact details, drop me a DM

Bike's loaded up and off to Cartagena, where I'll join it on Wednesday
Hopefully, I'll have enough tyres this time
The Nolimits bike drop off in Swindon (conveniently 5mins from my house) had a very different crowd to last time I went with them in Oct, and rather than a bunch of trackdayers going on Holiday, it looked more like lots of racers and race teams going off testing. I guess that's why they have int/fast1/fast2 groups this time.
Should be fun, and there'll be plenty of back wheels to try and follow to get my pace up a bit
Hopefully, I'll have enough tyres this time

Friend of mine just picked his bike up from there yesterday having just been out there himself Hopefully, I'll have enough tyres this time

I've had some Conti Raceattack slicks knocking around in my garage for a few months too, so I've brought them along just incase I need more than two pairs of VO2's in 3 days. I figured I was better to have them and not need them, than need them and not have them

Yeah, really good tyres, and at <£400 for 2rears and a front, they're cheaper than most others too

Let me know how you get on with the Conti's. When I first started track days last year I ran a Conti (Treaded track version) and despite alot of people saying they were rubbish I actually found them pretty good. They lacked the feel Pirelli SC's had and absolute grip but they genuinely lasted twice as long. I could get 4-5 track days out of a Conti rear!I've had some Conti Raceattack slicks knocking around in my garage for a few months too, so I've brought them along just incase I need more than two pairs of VO2's in 3 days. Its only once I tried the V02's I realised was the next level of grip was all about and I could take the p*ss at Snett, Almeria and Andulucia with them
Will say run a lower pressure on them Conti though, Im pretty sure the best on the rear for me HOT was about 24-25, anything above at least on the endurance compound had this happening https://youtu.be/hBB6afG6V2g

I had the race attacks treaded track tyres before, and although my riding was different back this summer when I had them as I had my 600 then, I found them really decent and I got a fair few days out of them.
Reasonable first day in Cartagena today
ZX10R chocolate gearbox has lived up to its name and it keeps jumping out of third to neutral randomly, so I'm having to short shift through third every time, which isn't ideal in what's a largely 3rd gear track
Did get my elbow down today though, which is a first for me

A gearbox thats more chocolatey than a gsxr 'box?! Surely not ZX10R chocolate gearbox has lived up to its name and it keeps jumping out of third to neutral randomly, so I'm having to short shift through third every time, which isn't ideal in what's a largely 3rd gear track

Good man getting your elbow down, my style resembles an 80's 500 2 stroke racer so only chance of that happening for me is when I crash...
Booked for Mallory 7th April. Will be my first trackday on a proper sized bike (used to race pitbike supermoto) I'm looking forwards to it.
Fingers crossed it doesn't rain, I'd booked Donnington last year but cancelled due to rain and never managed to get another one booked until now!
Guess the only question now is take my Thundercat which I don't mind binning (but do commute on) or my 2009 Tuono which is my pride and joy!?
