Thanks lads - still just a low 1.49 (.2 Fergus ), and yes, John, he certainly can although not sure what bodywork changes there were on Mike's R1 , could have sworn he said it was an '07 ? He had the misfortune of a holed rad. and a tiny off, slow left handler turn 3 there, really unfair as no way was it natural on day 2 with his pupil, but quickly sorted and back to work... A great lad, intend to revisit - may try to tie-in with one of his off-road days pre - track instead of on the piss...
I had a great ( slightly stupidly wasteful ....must exercise more control on the pop...) day with him, know I can get sensible and do it properly next time... Plenty more to come off that time( round there) but hell, it's a holiday as well and I had bloody good fun ! That "day to day" familiarity with the bike , just jumping on each day and ragging it makes the gaps feel "oh so lonnnnnnnggg...." Anyway - great craic and I felt I'd pass on the Euro buzz while it's still very fresh !

I can't do Cadwell for another reason now, my bike is going in to have the whole suspension sorted. I've been struggling with braking hard and running on at a few corners last year and this year and the front tyre is taking a battering as a result and squaring off.
whatever it is that's needed is wound on all the way, so some spring stuff and oil thingies are being mixed up to go in there to sort it out. The they're going to give me some new compressions and rebounds and dampers too, along with the new powerband and crate of torques that I've bought.
I may have zoned out when it was being explained.

Is this on the HP4 Loon? Are you not using the electronic suspension?? whatever it is that's needed is wound on all the way, so some spring stuff and oil thingies are being mixed up to go in there to sort it out. No the S1000RR trackbike. The HP4's suspension is mindblowingly awesome and confidence inspiring. I just can't justify sticking it on track as its not insured and I know I'd fall off it, even though I wouldn't fall off the S1000 at the same spot!LoonR1 said:

What did you think of cartagena compared to other European tracks??? I've never done it
Get it done Neil. I quite like the track, nice variety etc it's just lacking Jerez / Mugello glamour. Might even see you out there as I think I'm due home in a few months due to family ill health back home. What is your Autumn / Winter programme of events so far?

Sorry to hear your having to come back early. Hope things improve. Might even see you out there as I think I'm due home in a few months due to family ill health back home. What is your Autumn / Winter programme of events so far?
I'm starting a new job in a month. Once I know my new shift pattern, I'll be looking to get stuff booked up

I'd love to, but as LB has said that's the Cadwell round a good chance that I'll be doing the endurance race there. And no one better say it's too far.
I made a 500 mile trip for a trackday in feb

I knew you'd love the training with Mike. He is a great guy, and bloody fast.

He is truly dedicated and single-minded for sure, his pace wasn't really tested by me so I'll take your word for it !
It was great to have things simplified and structured to work on...rather than just continuing to ride round and round ad infinitum expecting something other than track familiarity with nominal adjustments to change and improve anything...
Top chap and left me with lots to think about.....
I like Cartagena, seemed good enough to go back after the first time but apart from a few laps of Misano on a road bike and the Nurburgring ( oh , and Nogaro, France years ago...) I haven't done any other Euros, the boys I went with are talking Jerez / Valencia / Almeria in that order as possible regroup start of next year , but could even be Cartagena again if dates and convenience/ value are best option.
Cheers Neil, bike does look great in these pics, but believe me, his lens filters do most of that - fairly poor track bodywork with vinyl decal job done on it is all- I couldn't stomach the full on paint/lacquer minter look and then wreck it - feel it's tempting fate too much - ps enjoy Jerez - soon.
Oh and Si- Loon, only joking re Cadwell - won't be there ( this Sat.,) but would have been a laugh - and yes, hope we're racing the Endurance there Easter weekend... license is on its way as they've "cashed the cheque"!
I liked the fact he would go into as much depth as you liked when I asked a question, to the point that he started listing tyre tech facts whilst convincing me that trail braking harder was our next task.
Also, when I did my blank confused face, he could come up with a different explanation. So many instructors have one way to describe something, and f you don't get it you're screwed
