Woohoo. Well done gwm. Even though sc0tt stole my thunder, now I've got the official pics I'll do a Cadwell report (with pics and short video clips for the ADD amongst us).
Most monotone and drawn out safety briefing I've had - do they compete with each other? At this point I reckon I could do the NL safety spiel almost verbatim.
First session almost felt like I was on greasy track. Hated it. Felt ridiculously slow, stiff and that I was really pissing folk off. Asked Parkitt racing about my tyres and they reckoned they were fine and just drop the cold pressure a bit more (24 rear and 29 front). Made a big difference, took about a lap before they felt grippy. The hot pressures were 27 and 32.
Physical track, I often scrubbed too much speed and went too slow due to jitters about the corner going away from me. Can definitely brake later and harder, though I'd like the brake response to be sharper (new pads coming). It's also the most knackered I've been after a trackday.
Watching the videos back as well, I really do forget where I'm going at plenty of moments until the last session. It's funny when one of the instructors goes past, that made me feel slow! There was one point where I'm hard on the gas in 4th and Kipper flies past me like I'm walking!
They do like to pose for the cameras too:
I definitely had my wheel off the ground a few times, though stopped doing it towards the end as it seemed to slow you done.
Wheelie pic (feel like a proper racer looking at this):
Some of the kerbs are massive. At first I was aiming to maybe clip the edge, but found my rear was riding them and it unsettled me a bit so I just stayed off them after that.
Couple of yellow flags from people binning it, both times over egging it into corners and low siding.
Red CBR out braking himself and low siding right in front of me.

The only red was when someone clipped one of the cones and knocked it into the middle of the track.

Some great drag races on the straight, prob lost at least 80% of them as I always braked too early!
Weather was perfect for me - high teens and no wind. You sometimes forget that the long summer evenings we get are the pay off for enduring the dark stty winters. Very buggy though.
It was good and I enjoyed it in the end, but I'm clearly someone without that "go fast" gene and have to work at it. Maybe I should try this red bull/irn bru combo...
Short video of a guy standing me up, then having the cheek to shake his head at me! Then my back off from a wheelie later on. Some guys were holding it but not many.

Final session:
01:06
03:30 02:24
05:54 02:24
08:09 02:15
10:29 02:20
12:44 02:15
14:57 02:13
Second last session:
08:09
10:30 02:21
12:53 02:23
15:09 02:16
17:25 02:16
Van - better mpg than the car and the convenience was so worth it. Maybe an increase in costs of £100-120, so I'll probably be doing that from now on.
Quickshifter - sometimes when shifting between 1st and 2nd it slips into neutral. Is this because I'm not at full throttle, not pressing on the gear lever firmly enough, what?

Good stuff. I've no idea what a decent time round Cadwell is, but you progressed nicely.
Why are you in 1st gear there?
1st gear where? Why are you in 1st gear there?

At Cadwell. You said something about the quickshifter amd changing from 1st to 2nd.
Ah I getcha now. Well you have to remember I'm slow and you told me I should be using the upper rev range! moanthebairns said:
I'm already a sad sack and have my fly by from Snetterton as my message alert (cheers sc0tt ) but I do like that...Yazza54 said:
Probably 6th, as you can see from the photo he's pretty awesome
I choose to ignore the sarcasm and will take it as a compliment rat840771 said:
There is an MSV track day coming up at Snetterton on Monday evening for £39, 2 groups, Novice and Inter/fast.
Has anybody had any experience with this company, I presume it will be a similar set up to No limits but hopefully a bit quieter as they are not as well publicised?
I might be wrong but that sounds like its a track taster session like they run at Oulton. Has anybody had any experience with this company, I presume it will be a similar set up to No limits but hopefully a bit quieter as they are not as well publicised?
If that's the case I think you get to follow a instructor for some laps then get to do some at your own pace something like that anyway. Im pretty sure Evo Barry did one at Oulton last year if you want more info.

Avoid 1st though, it's a horrible gear to change down to and use other than setting off.
Agreed, better off using 2-6. I use 1-5th on the Triumph as that is what I was recommended by the superstock team who ran it beforehand, but there was some mod to the gearbox done to make it difficult to get into neutral. Still managed to do it once and it's not recommended!

MSV would be the last to go pop. Has anybody had any experience with this company, I presume it will be a similar set up to No limits but hopefully a bit quieter as they are not as well publicised?

cheers, but it looks like i'm not allowed to go as "there is too much on' according to the mrs, I'm also getting married in a few weeks so i'd better not go for now, but will defo go in the next few weeks to either Snetterton/Rockingham or maybe even Brands if i can put up with the travel there and back ( from Cambridge)
Snett is a really good circuit to learn & develop skills & usually cheaper than a lot of others. Close to you too. Save your money & improve I home turf first I'd suggest. Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
