Has anyone done a trackday when an acu course is going on, is it just the same format with one group reserved for them?. Just booked Mallory in July but there's only two groups due to the course. I've gone for inters/fast but don't want to be a rolling road block. my last couple of days in inters I felt like I'm on the cusp of moving up anyway but as per usual I fill myself with self doubt as soon as i Do it.

The worst thing that can happen is you have to get moved down, providing you can hold a safe line. You never know, being in a faster pack might up your pace as well. Am out on track days for a while, having to stick to the road - slightly gutted. Just got stung with a nice bill on the house and have had to book some more exams for personal development as work wouldn't pay for them. There goes my track bike money : (
Probably another couple of months until enough cash to start again.

ACU course, or ACU test day?If the former, then they spend the morning in a classroom passing a written exam, then do their on track assessment at dinner time. They then join you on track in the afternoon and slot into whichever group
If the latter, the. All it means is that you have to have an ACU licence to be in that group. If you haven't, then you can't be in the group, simple as that.
An ACU licence is not a guarantee of the rider being brilliant. It just means they've passed a piss easy written test and an even easier on track assessment (think CBT and you'd be aiming too high!)

I'm not too sure. I rang up as the site only listed two groups novice/inters and inters/fast and the lady just said there's an acu group on so I assume it's a test day.If the former, then they spend the morning in a classroom passing a written exam, then do their on track assessment at dinner time. I'm hoping I'm not going to be a rolling chicane as I don't want to puss anyone off.

Who is the TD organiser?I'm hoping I'm not going to be a rolling chicane as I don't want to puss anyone off.
You need to get the ACU bit out of your head. They won't all be super racers. When a mate did his course, there were guys on there who had just passed their road test amd were doing it just so they could do track days as their road licences were restricted under the new rules.
Even if you are a "rolling road block" so what? You're not slow and it's up to the rider overtaking to do it safely. The fast guys do just that. The flip side is people who are really, really slow. I lapped a guy twice in every session yesterday at Oulton until he got moved out. He protested a lot about that too!

Stop stressing the weather and just book it. The last two days have been awesome, but so hot that I was knackered after 10 mins and the tyres couldn't really cope with the heat either.
well i fked up, just got round to booking and its FULL. Great trip to Brno with Mitzy and Fleegle. Also my mates Simon, James and Magda.
But of an eventful garage over the 3 days. We had:
1 broken gear linkage, which resulted in
1 broken gearbox after attempts to fix it with a hammer failed.
1 knackered clutch
2 crashed bikes
1 tyre warmer catch fire
1 run off into an air fence (but only at about 5mph and he kept it upright)
1 leaky fork seal (mine, was giving a bit of chatter/harder to hold a line, and affecting the brake on that side)
A top time was had by all though.
I managed a 2.09.44 on the last session of Day 1. Fork seal started leaking on day 2, so that slowed me down a touch. I rode around it for the next 2 days, but tbh, the biggest problem to setting a mega quick time was traffic. Had a look at my data logger when I got home and ideal time would have been 2 seconds faster if I could piece a perfect lap together/keep out of the traffic.
Had a couple of scary moments as well, 1 big out the seat moment after losing the rear, and having no brakes into a turn. The fork oil on the pads was affecting my brakes so I adjusted lever out a touch on the fly with my remote adjuster. Except, I adjusted it the wrong way. Turns out locking the back brake and a couple of swift downchanges works pretty well. Scary stuff

I've been at Cadwell today for the day and evening sessions with the same again tomorrow.
Damn it takes some learning and I forgot just how narrow it is. It's a look where you want to go track and nowhere else otherwise you'll be in the grass. Love Coppice and Charlie's onto the straight amd then round the top of the circuit. Just hate the Mountain and the fiddly bit after it. I carry good speed but never get a clear run at them.
