I've been at Cadwell today for the day and evening sessions with the same again tomorrow.

Damn it takes some learning and I forgot just how narrow it is. It's a look where you want to go track and nowhere else otherwise you'll be in the grass. Love Coppice and Charlie's onto the straight amd then round the top of the circuit. Just hate the Mountain and the fiddly bit after it. I carry good speed but never get a clear run at them.
biggrin

I thought you hated Cadwell! biggrin

I love it ... and I suspect that's because it is the closest track in the UK that compares to the road ...

Chicane is st, I usually just turn in as early as possible to get drive out of it.

I've been on the grass twice ... hehe

I do hate it, but promised hebege that Id give it a go to see if I can be arsed racing here.

There will be quite a bit of difference in our pace here, so bear that in mind when giving me advice smile

It's nothing like the road at all! It might be narrow, but I don't ride round it like that at all. It's full commitment all of the time.

So, snetterton (300) yesterday.. first time there, and first dry trackday on the 848. Phenomenal to let it off the leash properly biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Something of a step up from an ER6f(!) - my eyes were out on stalks for most of the morning. Takes a *long* time to stop from 150+

Had an absolute ball, loved it, felt absolutely epic (then looked at the gopro footage which looks like the local chapter of the IAM out for a sunday trundle)

Ended up being a shade frustrated with myself:
Not hanging off enough (says instructor. Finding the 'cup' shape to the back of the seat seems to get in the way?) Used the tyre right out to the edge, but only kissed one slider very briefly..
Far too late on the bloody throttle. Rubbish on the brakes (braking plenty hard, but timing/corner entry).
Massively inconsistent - best of 2:31.8 (data logger widget), but there's about a 10sec scatter - :37 seems to be the popular time.
Can't get myself to look in the right place for Hamilton (hence issues). Bit lost at the end of the bentley straight - fast left/slow right.
NO clue about coram - trundling around in the middle of the road loosing a heap of time - convinced the (single) 'apex' cone was nonsense..
Basically I'm a bit st! frown

Upsides:
Had some great fun following an rsv4 that was laying black lines in one session, and an R1 in another.
Grunt out of the last turn and up past the pits with the front *just* skipping smilesmilesmile
Got away with 3 trips over the grass - twice at hamilton & once coming out onto the bentley straight - which was a bit scary..
Didn't crash. Somehow managed to be towards the front of the novice group (bike I think)
I now know why it doesn't turn - it's me, not the bike.
156 fricking MPH (and still in 5th). REALLY?
I really love the 848..

Am a complete vegetable today!

A good starting point would be to listen to the instructor. Stop trying to get your knee down when your body position is crap and stop looking at your speedo.

if your grass tracking id suggest realing it in a bit. In 5 trackdays and now running usually in the top few in inters ive not once touched the grass. I know its coming and i know it happens but 3 times in one day on the first time on a new bike. Id be having a word with myself and calming down.
As long as your having fun then its all good but if youd of stuffed it on any of those 3 times you wouldnt be feeling so happy.

Also if you have any chuck some pics up, its always enjoyable to see trackday pics.

You're sitting waaaay too far back if the rear of the seat is hindering your movement. You want to be much farther forward, even balls against the tank as Simon Crafar says and leaning from there.
Stop trying to get your knee down until you've sorted your basic body position...

Metzler M7RR track day pressures starting point?

I was going to start with 32 front / 30 rear?
I start with 33/31 then drop it to 31/29 if required.

Yup, am listening to the instructor - I didn't pay for his time to ignore it smile Initially I thought I was probably trying too hard to hang off, so was a bit surprised. Did struggle a little to implement what he was saying. His tip about bending the inside elbow fixed (my) problem that it didn't want to turn (obvious when it's pointed out..) - and no, I'm not looking at the speedo(!!), duc has a fangled data logger thing that I plugged in after the fact (when I got home actually).

Interesting point about where I'm sitting ta - I'll have to have a look at that, I didn't think I was far back, but maybe.. Nor am I particularly *trying* to get my knee down, just (to me) proves I'm doing something wrong that it's that far off..

Grass - yes. Twice in 1 session, had a little word with myself, decided I was trying a little too hard to be the last of the late brakers. The other one was following the instructor - "I'm supposed to follow.. er.. no.. stand it up quick!"

Seems low to me, IFM told me to use 31/29 on one of the warmer days I did. Tyres have worn well at that so I've stuck with it after 5 days.

Has anyone even asked whether these are hot or cold pressures?

The answer is to ask the tyre guy at the trackday.

Ah my mistake, sorry.

Loons post has reminded me that these were cold pressures as I didn't have any warmers.

What tyre guy... wink

Cold pressures obviously as not using tyre warmers. Which I assume is the same as Tom.
