£500+ seems a bit strange when they sell a pair of front springs for around £85, and they will need to disassemble your forks to service them anyway.

Why not measure the "rider" sag on the front forks to see whether you need new springs, rather than rely on what the previous rider mentioned he had fitted (have you seen a receipt for any parts?).

K-tech can't set the preload for you properly without you being there anyway, so you'll have to measure the sag on both ends when you refit the shock and forks......

I'd probably get work done by one of Ktech's agents rather than them unless you are a race team from what I have anecdotally heard. Caveat Emptor.
I spoke to 100% suspension too. They'll service the forks for same price, but would send the rear shock to K-Tech anyway. So actually works out about £15 more expensive to us them.

As they are off the bike already I'm going to get them serviced, then set it all up when I get them back. It's only the rear I ever felt was soft, but then I guess I'm probably not braking that hard to feel that the front forks are diving that much.

But no, no receipts for any suspension related parts. Surely K-Tech can open them up and tell whether they are standard or aftermarket? Then I know what I've got to work with.

There's two of us - will there be room?
Probably. Get there early though. I'm aiming for 6:45ish
I'm definitely going to be in that garage barring any major disasters. I'm probably going to go out with one of the instructors a good few times tomorrow as well.

So, snetterton (300) yesterday.. first time there, and first dry trackday on the 848. Phenomenal to let it off the leash properly biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Something of a step up from an ER6f(!) - my eyes were out on stalks for most of the morning. Takes a *long* time to stop from 150+

Had an absolute ball, loved it, felt absolutely epic (then looked at the gopro footage which looks like the local chapter of the IAM out for a sunday trundle)

Ended up being a shade frustrated with myself:
Not hanging off enough (says instructor. Finding the 'cup' shape to the back of the seat seems to get in the way?) Used the tyre right out to the edge, but only kissed one slider very briefly..
Far too late on the bloody throttle. Rubbish on the brakes (braking plenty hard, but timing/corner entry).
Massively inconsistent - best of 2:31.8 (data logger widget), but there's about a 10sec scatter - :37 seems to be the popular time.
Can't get myself to look in the right place for Hamilton (hence issues). Bit lost at the end of the bentley straight - fast left/slow right.
NO clue about coram - trundling around in the middle of the road loosing a heap of time - convinced the (single) 'apex' cone was nonsense..
Basically I'm a bit st! frown

Upsides:
Had some great fun following an rsv4 that was laying black lines in one session, and an R1 in another.
Grunt out of the last turn and up past the pits with the front *just* skipping smilesmilesmile
Got away with 3 trips over the grass - twice at hamilton & once coming out onto the bentley straight - which was a bit scary..
Didn't crash. Somehow managed to be towards the front of the novice group (bike I think)
I now know why it doesn't turn - it's me, not the bike.
156 fricking MPH (and still in 5th). REALLY?
I really love the 848..

Am a complete vegetable today!
Liking the write up, seen 848's in action, proper tool on track.

Be patient, relax (isn't easy to do, but helps so much), get more track time & ride within your limits, say 75%, to allow you to react to mistakes (yours/others). Forget bout your knee & it's more likely to happen.

Feel free to share pics/footage.

Well I had a good couple of days at Croft with all the lads.

Day One was too hot (33 degrees) so everyone seemed to just do their own thing, me included.

Day 2 was a bit cooler and everyone seemed up for a bit of a laugh, Garry (One of my mates) ran on at the first corner after just passing me on the brakes and finding a gearbox full of false neutrals which brought out the Red flag as he was stuck in the gravel and in the firing line if anyone else ran on.

I was first in the queue on the re started session with Ben (another mate) behind me. We had sat for a good 7 or 8 minutes so when we pulled out onto the track I took it steady ish into the first corner only for Ben to come rattling up the inside and away.

Right you fker I thought as I went after him, he was going really well on the 2nd corner which is a long right hander leading into a left hander that see's loads of highsides so quick as a flash I straightened up and went off the track and through the cones waving at Ben, a quick look back saw all of the lads going for it after the nice target on my back.

Next lap I decided to cut the chicane again to make sure I stayed in front but this time I was carrying a lot more speed and arrived at Tower maybe 20 - 30 mph faster than I have ever done before and braked at the same point I usually.

The first yank on the brakes saw the back end up in the air and moving slightly off line, the 2nd handful saw a rather nice stoppie all the way to the grass with my feet down then a nice gentle turn on the thankfully dry grass back to the side of the track where all the lads gave me the wker sign as they passed.

I carried on for the rest of the lap at a leisurely pace then into the garage for a tab and a cup of coffee.

I was still laughing when the rest came in laughing too.

Just the job - another decent little write up .
Honest , competitive , fun ( even if being naughty and playing a little bit too hard for the liking of some ...!)
Glad you had a good couple of safe days John - hope to see you out on track again this year !

Yep. Not a cloud in the sky. Today I will be showing Joe Burns how it's done, after you embarrassing Jenny Tinmouth yesterday.

Mine was a little over the top of the bike moment as I was a bit too keen on the throttle coming out of the Esses

Oh heckers, apologies!

Hope you are both ok and the bikes are ok.

2 out of 2 PHers, surely that is a record!

Nah it is a statistical fact that 2 in 2 PHers will die twice on a Trackday.
