This was the pit lane before the last session, needless to say I called it a day.

4mm at 6 and 1mm at 9. Track's going to be pissing wet for most the day. Hopefully a dry line by the afternoon though.

I had two mates booked but just didn't bother going. I've sent them that video. I'm surprised they would still run that This was the pit lane before the last session, needless to say I called it a day.
I am tempted with that, but I will have to ride up from Cambridge on the Sunday night as I don't have trailer and you need to be there for 7.00am?
Just a bit worried about how tight it is ( only been to Snetterton), and that I have to get back to Cambridge in one piece. Also concerned about the weather.

Snap! Only ridden at Snetterton so far, but Cadwell just looks like so much fun and we are rapidly running out of "decent" weather this year. Just a bit worried about how tight it is ( only been to Snetterton), and that I have to get back to Cambridge in one piece. Also concerned about the weather.

If I was going on my own I could have you up (as I am travelling from Suffolk) and put your bike on my trailer as I can carry two bikes but I am already going to travel up on Sunday night with a friend (and his bike) from Norwich. Either way, would be a good group if we all went together.
Ok, I will check the dates, we come back from holiday in Cornwall on the Saturday and my daughter starts (big school)on that Monday so I'll see what the wife says.
As you say, the weather is on the turn, but if it rains I doubt I will have the balls to go on the track. Are you staying in a B&B, if so, if I come up on my bike and I'll stay in the same B&B and hopefully the bike will be safe?

Proper awesome day that ... Bit wet for the first session but by the second one a nice dry line was forming and by the third the track was bone dry.
First time at Donington Park on the bike for me and a bit of an eye opener at the speed you can get up too in places ... It's a proper fast track! I spent most of the morning working out where I was going ... Also learnt not leaning on your tyres too hard into the second lap is a bad idea... I lost the front into Goddards, managed to pick the bike up with my leg and straighten it up ... Destroyed my confidence until after lunch and all day going steady through Goddards. Lesson learnt. Other than the swing arm bobbin ground down, a mark on the stand and the side fairing popping out of its mounts it was all good. Lucky - Yes.
After lunch starting to get back into it and Loon comes sailing past ... Showing me how it's done. Got it all on camera too ... I didn't even bother trying to keep up as Loon was going past people in groups ... I thought I was doing pretty well till that point as well.
Decided to get some Instruction from Wavey Davey and in general my lines were good and I simply need more track time. Don't we all ...
Final session it was all starting to click together and I felt relaxed and was really enjoying myself. The blade is sublime on track it really is...
Thanks to Simon, Graeme and John for advice and help. Top lads! Good to meet some more of the PH crew as well... A few sore heads this morning after the beer last night!
Will get some pics and video up soon.
Cheers!

I enjoyed today. Was a nice, steady run round the track on my roadbike without pushing, or having to try hard. One thing I can say is that I prefer my trackbike on track, the HP4 was OK, but it's destroyed a rear tyre and the suspension didn't like having the throttle whacked open and was firing the TC pretty well everywhere for no real reason.
Very interesting idea having a roadbike only day. The manners were good as everyone was on a bike that they wamted to look after. I was a bit surprised at the amount of people who still turned up in vans though.

Sounds as close as you'd ever want to get at crashing the thing On most tracks without warmers I allow the left side an additional half / three quarters of a lap to warm up so oddly in a chicane on lap 2 for instance I'm treating one side as good-to-go and the other still as luke warm.
Keeping your scuffed bits as trophies or hiding / replacing damaged bits?

Were you out in the last session Loon? Had a guy on an S1000RR pass me at an unbelievable rate into Mcleans I think. Assumed it was you!
Yes I was. It probably was me, as there was only really me and the lad on the race bike who were quick in the group (sounds big headed, but not meant to be). I wasn't really pushing either just to add insult to injury as my tyre was a bit buggered Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
