Yup ... Every session from the 3rd (yes I have the video evidence of me nearly binning it) was recorded ... smile

Sounds as close as you'd ever want to get at crashing the thing

On most tracks without warmers I allow the left side an additional half / three quarters of a lap to warm up so oddly in a chicane on lap 2 for instance I'm treating one side as good-to-go and the other still as luke warm.

Keeping your scuffed bits as trophies or hiding / replacing damaged bits?
biggrin

It's only the bobbin that needs replacing. Everything else is golden ... smile

But yeah, lesson learnt. I didn't think I was going that hard into the corner either ...

Were you out in the last session Loon? Had a guy on an S1000RR pass me at an unbelievable rate into Mcleans I think. Assumed it was you!
Yes I was. It probably was me, as there was only really me and the lad on the race bike who were quick in the group (sounds big headed, but not meant to be). I wasn't really pushing either just to add insult to injury as my tyre was a bit buggered smile

Loon ...you're dead to me ..... and a little bit of me died inside on reading this .....my delicate ego could not take it ...then , all of a sudden , I re-read the post and saw the light .....last session .....I sat that one out !

Also learnt not leaning on your tyres too hard into the second lap is a bad idea... I lost the front into Goddards, managed to pick the bike up with my leg and straighten it up ... Destroyed my confidence until after lunch and all day going steady through Goddards. Lesson learnt. Other than the swing arm bobbin ground down, a mark on the stand and the side fairing popping out of its mounts it was all good. Lucky - Yes.

Cold tyres horrible. Bolt upright and steady for two Laps is a small price to pay instead of hours repairing the fker.

Was Loon taking his time today?

He only told me 60000.00000.00000 times that he was only "jogging" I did nearly reply the first time he mentioned it that he needs to run a bit faster if he's going to get rid of the fat belly.

Experienced European Trackdayers: what do you recommend I do with my leathers, helmet and boots? Pack in with the bike on the stillage or take as checked in luggage (helmet as hand luggage?)

Goin with NL if that makes a difference.

Thanks in adv

Donington is quite good for warming tyres though, as there are some good opportunities to get on the gas in a straight line and on the brakes too. One lap seemed to do the trick on both sides, albeit I wasn't pushing too hard at any point.

I have to say though that it really did make me realise how good having tyre warmers is.

Yeah suppose lots of straights and heavy braking zones. Cadwell was horrid. So guess depends on track. Glad yous enjoyed it but. Least the weather was good.

One thing I can say is that I prefer my trackbike on track, the HP4 was OK, but it's destroyed a rear tyre and the suspension didn't like having the throttle whacked open and was firing the TC pretty well everywhere for no real reason.
Did you get the chance to have a look at the ddc settings? smile

Great day, remarkably good considering the forecast. Very much enjoyed seeing everyone again and meeting some new faces, it was a really sociable, well run, incident free trackday. Donington is a lovely track, shall be returning to try harder.

Not likely to if I'm honest, it'll mean reading an instruction manual, which I hate doing and then trying to do things with suspension when the words and what they mean are like Greek to me.

It works well on the road and that's where it's going to lead its life. The race bikes all have this suspension swapped for Bitubo / Ohlins anyway.

Was it the GP layout? What kind of laptimes were you guys doing, out of interest? Even if you weren't out to set new records...
