Oh and there was a brand new R1M there and holy st those things can shift. It was the only bike that left me for dead on the straights.
He showed up in inters for a bit and I kept him in sight till the long straights where he opened it out. Don't think my 10 year old GSX-R counts. Wish I had seen this on here, I would have said hi. Was in garage 21. Saw a poor guy on a Kwak near your garage bin it right outside it when coming in. Poor bugger.obscene said:

Yeah I managed to sit with the R1M round the corners but as soon as he got to a straight it left me for dead. It was awesome seeing the rear sliding a little as he excited the corner before shooting off.Didn't see the Ninja crash but heard one of the Fireblades got taken out at the last hairpin too.
What bike were you on?

I wasn't even paying attention to that! I was on a K5 1000 GSXR. What group were you? He was in the garage next to us as I had a good stare at it. The noise guy was relentless, he gave me a damn jab in the side when I went out no baffle for the first session. I then got black flagged so had to buy one as I left mine at home. Felt sorry for the guys throttle off in the Novice group down the main straight, there were definitely 2/3 who shouldn't have been in that group from a pitlane point of view. The guy on the yellow GSXR in that group looked rapid and White/Red R1. Didn't see the Ninja crash but heard one of the Fireblades got taken out at the last hairpin too.

I was in the orange/inters group too. I was admiring your K5 when walking down the garages but didn't see it on track so we must have been on opposite ends of the track if we were both on at the same time.FartKong said:

Ahh thank you! Must have been at different ends of the track.I just reread your last post, I got the guy on the Fireblade's crash on camera. He was braking lent over round the Melbourne loop way past where he should have been (should have been accelerating out by then, I'm guessing he was trying to correct something) and had a slow drop. As I said, there was the guy in the pitlane who binned it and a guy in Novice I think who had a Kwak and binned it (and spilt all the fuel!) but at least he apologised to everyone while going past on the loser cruiser .
I'm constantly impressed by PR4's capabilities to hold out tyre wise. I was going to put Rosso Corsas on but didn't get the time.

Steve, what tyres are you going to put on and what are your plans for the suspension?
i'll go with my favourite Metzeler racetec slicks in K2 or k1 compound, depending on the track temps. I love the 190/60 rear, just superb. yesterday the track hit 54 degrees c and 34 degrees air temp and it was as greasy as hell. The Sp's were not happy at all.
Suspension wise, i'll fit some K-Tec springs up front and maybe a valve set once we've put the forks on the dyno to see how they are.
On the rear, I might go for a K-tech 3 way shock and revised linkage plates.
Anyone use a noise meter on their smartphone, how accurate are they? A few articles online mention its within +/- 2dBA. My Akra (with the dB killer) is only showing 91.

Also fitted these flip-up levers from Rizoma, they feel pretty nice.
ECU now "Race":
Pickup is crisper and supposed to be more oooompf in the mid-range. Will soon find out at Snetterton, if its dry...
